Fix Healthcare

There is one thing every American can agree on - our health care system is broken.  The Affordable Care Act is a disaster and now that the individual mandate has finally been repealed, Congress needs to get to work on finding a replacement. As a nurse, who has also worked on the administrative side of hospitals, I know the actual cost of healthcare. We don’t need a big government program that involves federal bureaucrats in your health care decisions.  Instead, we need to put patients in charge of their health care decisions, increase competition to lower costs, and make health care pricing more transparent.  By doing that we can build the health care system Americans deserve.

National Defense

I’ve spent the last 31 years of my life in the military, so I can tell you two things are absolutely true.  We have the most incredible Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Coast Guardsmen and Airmen in the world, and we are not providing them with the proper funding for training, equipment and supplies they need. We owe it to our service members to fund our military at the level in which they have the latest and greatest equipment to keep them safe. I look at our state of readiness, and I know we’re not doing our best. It’s a national disgrace that persistent continuing resolutions and government shutdowns continue to impede the vital work that our service members need to do to ensure our national defense. Our ships are colliding, our soldiers are overworked, and we don’t spend enough time on training because we are stretched too thin. In Congress, I will fight to ensure our military has the funding and support it needs to protect our freedoms.

Balance the Budget

Congress needs to start acting like adults and start spending the people’s money responsibly and the first step is passing a budget. I’m not sure that I have ever seen the phrase “Continuing Resolution” anywhere in the Constitution, so it’s time to stop this whole, “will they or won’t they fund the government” dance at the end of every year. The constitution is clear, the power of the purse belongs to Congress, and it’s their responsibility to spend your money wisely.  That means stopping the irresponsible cycle of “Continuing Resolutions”, the endless deficit spending and the sky rocketing national debt.  Congress needs to find solutions instead of continuing to kick the can down the road.  Passing a budget, a balanced budget, every year will be one of my top priorities.

Clean up Washington

While I was stationed at the Pentagon, I had a front row seat to the dysfunction in Washington. Every day, members of Congress seemed more interested in scoring political points, and grabbing headlines than in doing what’s right for America.  Washington needs to stop bickering, and get to work for the American people.  For the past 31 years, I’ve worked in the most diverse organization in the country. We don’t agree on politics or religion or which branch of service is better, but when our country calls, we put aside all those differences and come together for one purpose, to protect this great nation and defend our Constitution.  If the million+ members of the military can all do that, then why can’t our 435 representatives in Congress do the same?

We need leaders in Congress willing to stand up to do what’s right.  To be a voice for all Americans who are  tired of the Congressional failure and dysfunction.

Sen. John Reagan endorses Blankenbeker in 2nd District U.S. House race

May 17, 2018

REAGAN SIGNS ON. Three-term state Sen. John Reagan’s endorsement of military veteran and former state Rep. Lynne Blankenbeker in the 2nd District U.S. House race will become official later Thursday.   Reagan will be the second state senator to back the Concord resident, joining Sen. Harold French of Franklin.   Now in his third term in the state Senate, Reagan and Blankenbeker previously served together in the New Hampshire House.   He praised her as “thoughtful, trustworthy and intelligent” and cited her “personal bravery” having served in Middle East war zones.   “As the congressional liaison for the U.S. Navy, she has acquired the knowledge to understand how things work in Congress,” Reagan said.   Blankenbeker called Reagan a consistent “voice for fiscal sanity and conservative principles,” and thanked him for his support.

Blankenbeker among 5 candidates in new War Veterans Fund joint committee

May 10, 2018

JOINT FUNDRAISNG COMMITTEE. Republican 2nd Congressional District U.S. House candidate Lynne Blankenbeker has joined with four other military veterans who are running for the U.S. House to form a joint fundraising committee, the War Veterans Fund.   According to the Federal Election Commission, the committee was formed about a month ago with Virginia-based Republican fundraising compliance expert Chris Martin as its treasurer.   Also on board are candidates Dan Crenshaw and Jake Ellzey of Texas, Clayton Hinchman of Alabama and Michael Waltz of Florida. The group recently hosted fundraisers in Miami and Dallas and plans another event shortly in Virginia.   Blankenbeker’s campaign said her endorsement by the group was “due to her character, integrity, leadership and American values.”   Blankenbeker, the four other candidates participating in the committee and their families “have sacrificed so much for our nation already, and I am humbled by their accomplishments. We all have strong military backgrounds with the same ethos and our mission is clear – we must put our political differences aside to provide for America a Congress that will balance a budget, protect our nations, and adhere to our constitutional responsibilities.”

State Sen. French endorses Blankenbeker for 2nd District U.S. House seat

May 9, 2018

SENATOR’S ENDORSEMENT. State Sen. Harold French of Franklin on Wednesday endorsed former state House member and U.S. Navy Reserve Capt. Lynne Blankenbeker for the 2nd District U.S. House seat.   Blankenbeker is among three Republican candidates for the seat currently held by Democratic U.S. Rep. Annie Kuster, who is seeking a fourth term. Other Republicans running are state Rep. Steve Negron and former Veterans Affairs official Stewart Levenson.   “This is an exciting opportunity for New Hampshire and I am thrilled to endorse Lynne Blankenbeker for Congress,” French said. “As a Navy nurse and former hospital administration employee, Lynne has the unique skill set we need to find a solution to our health care problems once and for all.   "I know that if we send Lynne to Congress, she is going to use her background in medicine to resolve the lingering problems with Obamacare and find a creative way for the federal government to help our communities fight back against the opioid crisis.”   French was elected to the District 7 Senate seat in 2016 and previously served in the House. He is an auctioneer and real estate broker.   “In just a short time in Concord, Harold French has proved to be a strong leader for New Hampshire families,” said Blankenbeker. “I’m excited to have his support and endorsement. Harold and I both share the belief in limited, responsible government.   'We’ve done a great job of instilling that philosophy here in the Granite State, and I look forward to taking our ideas to Congress to make the federal government both smaller and more effective.”   Blankenbeker is a nurse and attorney, who as a member of the military, was deployed three times in support of operations in the Middle East. She has most recently served two active duty tours in Washington, D.C., at the Pentagon and the Defense Health Headquarters.
