Bernie Goes ALL IN On Abortion; Says It's A "Constitutional Right"
December 6, 2019On Thursday evening, Socialist Senator and 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders took to Twitter to claim that abortion is a constitutional right.
“Abortion is a constitutional right," Sanders claimed, offering no proof to his outlandish claim.
Is Sanders' claim factual? Check out what PJ Media’s Jim Treacher had to say:
Back in the old days, abortion enthusiasts used to say that killing a baby should be “safe, legal, and rare.” The idea was that abortion should be a last resort. They didn’t want to seem too bloodthirsty, but they still wanted to keep the door open in case you really, really need that kid dead.
Well, forget about all that. The ruse is over. The veil has been torn away. Now the 2nd-place contender in the Democratic Party’s 2020 presidential race is flatly calling for abortion on demand, and he’s even citing the United States Constitution to back him up.
Fox News adds: "The U.S. Constitution does not specifically address abortion. But abortion-rights activists argue the 14th Amendment to the Constitution, as cited by the Supreme Court in the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision, includes a "right to privacy" that allows women to decide whether to have an abortion."
The tweet immediately received major backlash on Twitter.
"When human life begins, human rights begin," tweeted March for Life. "No one has the right to kill an innocent human being, no matter how young or helpless that human being is."

Sanders' abortion stance goes much farther than "abortion is a constitutional right."
Back in September during a CNN event, Sanders argued for abortion while promoting population control.
"Human population growth has more than doubled in the past 50 years. The planet cannot sustain this growth. I realize this is a poisonous topic for politicians, but it's crucial to face," a member in the audience asked. "Empowering women and educating everyone on the need to curb population growth seems a reasonable campaign to enact. Would you be courageous enough to discuss this issue and make it a key feature of a plan to address climate catastrophe?"
"The answer is yes," Sanders replied. "And the answer has everything to do with the fact that women in the United States of America, by the way, have a right to control their own bodies and make reproductive decisions."
"And the Mexico City agreement, which denies American aid to those organizations around the world that allow women to have abortions or even get involved in birth control to me is totally absurd. So I think especially in poor countries around the world where women do not necessarily want to have large numbers of babies and where they can have the opportunity through birth control to control the number of kids they have, is something I very, very strongly support," he finished.
