- No

Indicate which proposals you support (if any) for balancing Texas's budget.

1. Reducing state employee salaries AND/OR pensions?
- No

2. Instituting mandatory furloughs AND/OR layoffs for state employees?
- No

3. Reducing benefits for Medicaid recipients?
- No

4. Other or expanded principles
- We must move away from a tax base that is dependent on oil and gas revenues in order to be able to plan responsibility for the needs of Texans in the coming century. The shifting of state responsibility for the funding of public schools to local property taxes must be reversed.

Campaign Finance & Government Reform

1. Do you support any limits on campaign contributions to state candidates?

2. Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?

4. Do you support requiring a government-issued photo identification in order to vote at the polls?

We spend less per student in real dollars than we did, all while expecting schools and educators to do more. In addition, the state legislature has shifted the burden of funding to local property owners by about 10% of the total education budget. This is wrong.

Legislative Priorities

In the following area, please explain in a total of 100 words or less, your top two or three priorities if elected. If they require additional funding for implementation, please explain how you would obtain this funding.
- Public education, including healthcare and defined pension benefits for teachers, should be funded at a level expected of a state as prosperous as Texas. This can be achieved by closing tax loopholes-especially property taxes-enjoyed by corporations and big business. The burden should not fall on the average Texas homeowner. Access to healthcare for the most vulnerable Texans can be expanded by accepting Federal Medicaid funding-our taxes that we should reclaim. All Texans-regardless of race, sex, religion, place of birth or sexual orientation should be treated equally under the law.
