- Yes and no to each of these. CCSS has been adopted by Maine, but that does not relieve us from the burden of No Child Left Behind. I support merit pay but have found no fair system of evaluating teachers. I do not support tenure in general, but much more than tenure goes into teacher effectiveness. Parents already have school choice within Auburn. Before I would support funding for charters, I would like to bring some of those initiatives into our public schools. States offer varieties of financial asst in incentives for areas of study needed in the state.

- Jobs: As a small business owner myself, I would like to be a voice for small businesses. I support innovation and new technologies to grow our economy and provide good paying, technical jobs. Veterans: Maine has the highest percentage of veterans, whom we serve well. But we need to be prepared for the wave of young servicemen and servicewomen who will be leaving active duty in the next few years, and their financial, physical and emotional needs. Support for local government: by continually shifting costs to cities and towns, the state has forced Auburn's taxes to increase.
