Brian Kroshus (Republican) is a member of the North Dakota Public Service Commission. Kroshus was appointed on February 28, 2017.


Kroshus was a 2016 Republican candidate for state auditor in North Dakota. He announced his candidacy at the GOP headquarters in Bismarck on November 17, 2015. He ultimately did not file to run in the primary election.

Kroshus spent 10 years as the publisher of the Bismarck Tribune and nearly 30 years in the private sector overall. He is the group publisher for Lee Agri-Media in Mandan, N.D. To avoid conflict of interest, Kroshus retired on October 22, 2015, as both Lee Agri-Media and the Tribune are owned by Lee Enterprises in Davenport, Iowa.

Before joining the Tribune in 1997, Kroshus spent 10 years with Forum Communications in Fargo, N.D. He was promoted to his current position as group publisher for Lee Agri-Media in 2004 and to Tribune publisher in 2005.

2016

Kroshus announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for auditor in October 2015. When Kroshus was asked if he would run in the June primary even if he did not get the party's endorsement at the state convention taking place April 1 to 3, he said that he was concentrating on winning the endorsement. Josh Gallion received the party nomination and ultimately ran unopposed in the primary election as Kroshus did not file to run.

Campaign themes

During his campaign announcement, Kroshus highlighted his time in the private sector, particularly his time as publisher of the Bismarck Tribune. He said,
