California Congressional Election 2018 Political Courage Test

    Abortion

    1. Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
    - Pro-life

    2. Other or expanded principles
    - I am in the middle on this issue...but believe there should be a very good reason to terminate the life of an unborn baby. Many "progressives" are hysterical about defending violent predators from the death penalty, yet remain silent on the hundreds of thousands of unborn babies that are killed each year. This is not about denying a woman's right to autonomy over her body...it's about doing the right thing and preserving life if at all possible.

    Budget

    1. In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
    - No

    2. In order to balance the budget, do you support reducing defense spending?
    - No

    3. Other or expanded principles
    - We spend 1.2 trillion dollars on the military, have over 800 military bases in 80 countries and have become a menace to world peace. The United States of America has a declining corporate empire that needs to be dismantled.

    Campaign Finance

    1. Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
    - Yes

    2. Other or expanded principles
    - AIPAC is a perfect example of why we need to get money out of politics and have publicly financed elections.

    Economy

    1. Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
    - Yes

    2. Do you support lowering corporate taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
    - No

    3. Other or expanded principles
    - Over the past 40 years, corporate lobbyists and their criminal friends on Capitol Hill have successfully transferred the cost of running our nation to working people. It's time to get rid of all loopholes in the tax code and force the wealthy and these corporate giants to contribute to paying the national bills. They are the true moochers and need to called out for it.

    Education

    1. Do you support requiring states to adopt federal education standards?
    - No

    2. Other or expanded principles
    - I think education should be localized...there is way too much standardization. Read "Weapons of Mass Instruction" by John Taylor Gatto.

    Energy & Environment

    1. Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, thermal)?
    - Yes

    2. Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
    - Yes

    3. Other or expanded principles
    - I want to introduce legislation for a "Manhattan Project" type of program for clean, sustainable energy. The goal will be a ten-year plan to decommission all nuclear and coal fired energy plants and replace our entire fleet of commercial and private vehicles with sustainable, clean alternatives.

    Guns

    1. Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
    - Yes

    2. Other or expanded principles
    - I support universal background checks, ending the gun show loophole and if you want a military weapon, jon the National Guard and leave your machine gun in the armory.

    Health Care

    1. Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")?
    - Yes

    2. Other or expanded principles
    - Repeal and expand Medicare for all citizens.

    Immigration

    1. Do you support the construction of a wall along the Mexican border?
    - No

    2. Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
    - No

    3. Other or expanded principles
    - If they get here they should be allowed to stay. Many are escaping conditions that were created by misguided U.S foreign policy.

    Marijuana

    1. Do you support the legalization of marijuana for recreational purposes?
    - Yes

    2. Other or expanded principles
    - Yes, legalize at the federal level.

    National Security

    1. Should the United States use military force in order to prevent governments hostile to the U.S. from possessing a nuclear weapon?
    - No

    2. Do you support increased American intervention in Middle Eastern conflicts beyond air support?
    - No

    3. Other or expanded principles
    - We need to skillfully unwind the corporate empire that has metastasized over the past 100 years.

    Administrative Priorities

Please explain in a total of 100 words or less, your top two or three priorities if elected. If they require additional funding for implementation, please explain how you would obtain this funding.
    - Getting money out of politics Closing most of the 800 military bases in over 80 countries Expanding Medicare for all citizens. David Cay Johnston has done a great deal of research on taxation and has concluded that if we just adopted a healthcare system as they have in France, we could eliminate income tax for 80% of Americans...meaning anyone making less than $200,000 per year
