California Sheriffs Balk At Governor Gavin Newsom's COVID CrackdownNovember 21, 2020
There is resistance to California Governor Gavin Newsom's latest round of authoritarian orders served up just in time for Thanksgiving and it is coming from the state's sheriffs.
Newsom has joined the rush to impose crushing new restrictions on suffering citizens that would all but cancel Thanksgiving and turn states into sad and oppressive places reminiscent of Soviet Bloc countries with a decree for a curfew.

Governor Newsom has already implemented some of the strictest Thanksgiving rules but his 10 pm to 5 orders for a statewide curfew have the top law enforcement officials in a number of the Golden state's counties telling him to stuff it.
On Thursday, Newsom's office issued a statement announcing the latest sucker punch to the solar plexus as a "limited" stay at home order that stretches from the weekend before turkey day until four days before Christmas - all but certain to be extended given the left's disdain for western civilization's celebration of the birth of lord and savior Jesus Christ.
Newsome's dictatorial move to cancel the holidays was met with a swift backlash from sheriff's who are unwilling to turn law-abiding citizens into criminals and to be forced to redeploy resources from dealing with real crime instead of being the Democrats' own Gestapo.
Via The Washington Free Beacon, "California Sheriffs Tell Newsom They Won’t Enforce COVID Curfew":
Several California sheriffs are telling Gov. Gavin Newsom (D.) that they are planning not to enforce the state's new curfew rules.
"We’re not going to make criminals of normally law-abiding citizens," Fresno County sheriff Margaret Mims said. Officials in four other law-enforcement agencies in the state also said they do not plan to treat gatherings during the coronavirus pandemic as criminal, according to Fox 26.
Mims argued that the police have higher priorities, including "taking guns away from gang members, stopping narcotic trafficking, and saving children from internet predators." She also said there is little data showing that activities between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. play a significant role in spreading the virus.
Newsom has come under fire in recent days for visiting a high-end Napa Valley restaurant for a lobbyist's birthday. The governor claimed he and other guests followed social distancing guidelines during the party, but photos circulated online showing the group socializing in close quarters, indoors, and without masks.
Other police officers in the state echoed Mims's position and said they would encourage compliance and boost education efforts about the dangers of the virus's spread without arresting people. Sacramento County sheriff Scott Jones said his department would not enforce the curfew, limitations on social gatherings, or masks mandates.
Orange County Sheriff Don Barnes also put all "Karens" and snitches on notice that his deputies will not be responding to their calls ratting out people who don't wear masks or otherwise violate Newsom's edicts.
According to Sheriff Barnes:
"At this time, due to the need to have deputies available or emergency calls for service, deputies will not be responding to requests for face-coverings or social gatherings-only enforcement."
It didn't do Newsom's case for harsh restrictions on his subjects much good when he was busted violating his own orders at a dinner party held at an expensive Napa Valley restaurant.
The rules are for thee and not for me.
He may be smoother than New York's Andrew Cuomo, a man who acts like a mafia don and who is also facing resistance from his sheriff's but Governor Newsom is every bit the petty tyrant.
