Issue Position: Veterans

Jan. 1, 2016

In February, I sponsored The Veterans' Career & Resource Fair in West Haven which was used to assist interested veterans with resume building workshop, job interview skills, a VA healthcare information booth and legal resources help. I'm so thrilled that so many veterans were able to take advantage of this opportunity. We, on the state and local level, owe a debt of gratitude to our brave men and women returning to civilian life. My hope is that Resource and Career Fairs like this provide veterans with much needed support.

Issue Position: Business

Jan. 1, 2016

For over 40 years, I've been a small business owner in West Haven. Small businesses are an essential component of the economic stability of Connecticut. My voting record reflects that I have fought to lower taxes on small businesses and keep a level playing field against big corporate enterprises. The back room dealings of the current democratic majority have handed out so much corporate welfare, it has strangled the small business environment of this State. I will continue to advocate for legislation that helps our small business owners create jobs and encourages our budding entrepreneurs to invest in our local communities.

Issue Position: Advocate for Seniors

Jan. 1, 2016

This past January, we had a great turnout for a fraud prevention forum that I hosted to educate seniors on how to avoid becoming victims of fraud. The conversation was mediated by members of the West Haven Police Department and by AARP. Last year, I also sponsored a Technology workshop to assist senior citizens with the latest electronic devices. At a time when advances in the way we communicate with our loved ones and friends continue to evolve, it is never too late to learn something new. In the near future advances in IT technology will make it possible for our seniors to remain independent much longer than they have been heretofore.
