Won the General, 2017 Washington Bellevue City Council Position 2

Council Member (Bellevue, WA) - At-Large (? - Present)

Policy Positions

Accountable Government

Today, many people are feel alienated from government, which often seems unconcerned with the needs of the people. Decisions are often made without adequate input from the citizens – we have seen this with regard to Sound Transit, the location of homelessness shelters, and the proposals to allow heroin injection sites.

Conrad Lee believes in unifying people, communicating with people, and engaging people.

Mr. Lee believes that in order to achieve a great future for our city and its citizens:

  • The government needs to listen to people.
  • The decision-making process must be transparent.
  • Community and neighborhoods must be involved in the decision-making process.

Mr. Lee's leadership has helped Bellevue remain a model of government responsibility and accountability to the people.

Affordable Housing

During Conrad Lee's tenure on City Council, many companies of all sizes have seen incredible growth, creating thousands of new jobs and opportunities. However, with unprecedented economic growth, the demand for housing exceeds the available supply, bring affordable housing to the forefront of Bellevue's issues.

"When it comes to the issue of homelessness, we can work together. We all want the same thing; we just have different ways of getting there."

Mr. Lee believes that to achieve solutions:

  • Government must listen to the people.
  • The decision-making process must be transparent.
  • Community and neighborhoods must be involved in the decision-making process.

Neighborhood Quality of Life

Living in Bellevue for fifty years, Conrad Lee is a dedicated advocate for Bellevue's high quality neighborhoods. He is committed to making sure that the rich diversity of our communities survives for future generations.

Mr. Lee supports various public safety initiatives throughout the community; for example, he worked with the St. Luke's Church to create Sophia's Place, a permanent facility to shelter homeless women.

"Bellevue is a vibrant hub for good jobs and international business with quality of life second to none."

In Bellevue, we can all feel safe walking through downtown, and in our neighborhoods, because public safety has always been one of Conrad Lee's top priorities.
