Reason for Seeking Public Office:

Thank you for your interest in my campaign for Colorado Attorney General. For the past eight years, I have been honored to serve as your Chief Deputy Attorney General. In the number two spot in the Colorado Attorney General's Office, I have worked with General John Suthers to build an exceptional public law office representing the people and defending Colorado's sovereignty.

I have made a career of public service. The majority of my 22 years of law practice have been spent as a government attorney. That may sound dull to some of you, but for me it is a calling. I have had the opportunity to work in the legislative branch and learn how laws are made, and in the executive branch where I've both implemented and defended the state's statutes and constitution.

I am a lawyer at heart, not a politician. In fact, I've never run for elected office before. I want to be your Attorney General because I am committed to serving Colorado as the state's lawyer and top law enforcement official. Right now, we are facing legal issues of critical importance to our state's quality of life.

Rural Colorado is enduring a catastrophic drought -- as Attorney General I will have to fight to protect Colorado's water right so ranchers have a better chance to hold onto their land and livelihood.

  • The federal government oversteps its authority under the 10th Amendment with shocking regularity -- it is up to the Attorney General to defend Coloradans' rights to govern their state according to their own laws, and not by the administration's agenda in Washington, D.C.

The integrity of our criminal justice system has been diminished by a flawed corrections system and unenforced death penalty -- I will champion our district attorneys and law enforcement officials as they defend Colorado's public safety.

There is much work to be done and I am ready to step in and run the Attorney General's Office on my first day in office. I hope I will have your support in protecting Coloradans, from the classroom to the courtroom, from the family room to the boardroom.
