Personal Details

Dave Jones (Democrat) was a candidate for Attorney General of California. Jones lost the primary on June 5, 2018.

Jones was the Democratic California commissioner of insurance from 2011 to 2019.

Previously, Jones worked as a legal aid attorney with Legal Services of Northern California, a nonprofit, public interest law firm serving low-income residents in 22 California counties. He was also a special assistant and counsel to U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno during President Bill Clinton's administration. He obtained degrees from DePauw University, Harvard Law School, and the Kennedy School of Government.

When he served in the state government, Jones was a member of the Sacramento Metropolitan Cable Commission, Sacramento Regional Sanitation District, Sacramento Solid Waste Authority, and Sacramento Transportation Authority.
