Policy Positions

Montana State Legislative Election 2018 Political Courage Test

Abortion & Reproductive

1. Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
- Pro-choice

2. Should abortion be legal when the pregnancy resulted from incest or rape?
- Yes

3. Do you support the prohibition of public funds for organizations that perform abortions?
- Yes

4. Other or expanded principles
- Legal abortion is the law of the land. To use it as a political tool or issue is shameful. Attempting to legislate morality is always flawed and never works. Why do we keep forgetting that?

Budget, Spending, & Tax

Budget Stabilization:

Indicate which proposals you support (if any) for balancing Montana's budget.

1. Reducing state employee salaries AND/OR pensions?
- Yes

2. Instituting mandatory furloughs AND/OR layoffs for state employees?
- Yes

3. Reducing benefits for Medicaid recipients?
- No

4. An income tax increase on any tax bracket?
- No

5. Eliminating block grants to public school districts?
- No

6. Decreasing funding to the Montana Department of Health and Human Services?
- No

7. Other or expanded principles
- I'm beginning to get a sense that these yes or no question are not only misleading, but have the rotten odor of partisanship.Who told you these were the issues that people care about?I see this all the time in what I'll describe as a very bias media. Has any one ever really gone out and asked the people what they felt was important without a list of questions like the ones above. Or do you just tell people what they should think is important?I guess if it works, there's no reason quit!

Campaign Finance & Government Reform

1. Do you support any limits on campaign contributions to state candidates?
- Yes

2. Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
- Yes

3. Do you support the use of an independent AND/OR bipartisan commission for redistricting?
- Yes

4. Do you support requiring a government-issued photo identification in order to vote at the polls?
- No Answer

5. Other or expanded principles
- I left question d unanswered because of the words "government issued" I do believe proof that you are, who you say you are, and are eligible to vote is a no brainer. We live in a time where political races are decided by money. And indeed, money is the root of all that is wrong with government.Sweeping changes would have to be made to make it a government of the people again. The little tweaks here and there like those above, do nothing.

Crime & Public Safety

1. Do you support capital punishment for certain crimes?
- Yes

2. Do you support the legalization of marijuana for recreational purposes?
- Yes

3. Should a minor accused of a violent crime be prosecuted as an adult?
- No

4. Do you support the enforcement of federal immigration laws by state and local police?
- Yes

5. Other or expanded principles
- Why is enforcing laws that are on the books even a question. We are a nation of laws. The laws of men will always be imperfect, but without them, there is only anarchy.

Economic

1. Do you support state government spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
- Yes

2. Do you support lowering state taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?

- No Answer

5. Do you support requiring welfare applicants to pass a drug test in order to receive benefits?
- No Answer

6. Do you support an increase of the minimum wage of Montana?
- No Answer

7. Other or expanded principles
- Again these are questions that cannot be answered with a yes or no. Even though I hear it done all the time, how do we vote on something until we've read it?A friend who's council I trust, and is an old hand at the political game, told me not to take these kind of surveys, because at some point someone will use it against you.

Education

1. Do you support adopting federal education standards in Montana?
- No

2. Do you support state funding for charter schools?
- Yes

3. Should immigrants unlawfully present in the United States who graduate from Montana high schools be eligible for in-state tuition at public universities?
- No Answer

4. Other or expanded principles
- could our public schools survive without federal dollars? We have become addicted to this money in order to support the educational industrial complex in Montana. If you take their money, you do their bidding. Producing graduates that are not qualified to do anything but participate in a charade.

Environment & Energy

1. Do you support state funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, thermal)?
- No Answer

2. Do you support state government regulations of greenhouse gas emissions?
- Yes

3. Do you support increasing state funding for clean drinking water initiatives?
- No Answer

4. Other or expanded principles
- This to me is the most crucial topic of our time. Clean air and water are paramount to human survival. Our consumption based economy that requires us to continually consume more and more forever, has the seeds of it own demise built into it.I don't know the answer. I do know that government is inept, and poorly thought out solution and regulations only compound the problem. Radical changes will result in unimaginable disaster. But we as a world need to get moving on this.

Gun

1. Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
- No

- No

4. Should a license be required for gun ownership?
- No

5. Other or expanded principles
- I am firm believer that it is better to have a gun and not need it, than to need a gun and not have it. In a less than perfect world, the invention of a personal firearm is among if not the greatest invention of mankind. It leveled the playing field to were the strong could no longer ravage the weak simply because they were stronger.Tiny step taken with a end game of disarming the citizens, is always first steps of fascism.

- No Answer

7. Other or expanded principles
- I oppose any expansion of government, either in size or scope of power.I oppose any form of forced vaccination.I believe it is that absolute right of any person to exit this life at any time of their choosing.I would support a task force to prosecute and imprison all the sleazy politicians and greedy drug companies that brought this about

- No Answer

2. Do you support the inclusion of gender identity in Montana's anti-discrimination laws?
- No Answer

3. Do you support greater efforts by Montana state government in closing the pay gap between men and women?
- No Answer

4. Should individuals be required to use a bathroom that corresponds with the gender listed on their birth certificate?
- No Answer

5. Other or expanded principles
- I am aware that nature does not always get it right when splicing genes and DNA. A person should be able to choose whatever gender identity they feel comfortable with. And they should have the same rights as any human being. Nothing more or nothing less. I personally could care less who I'm sharing a public bathroom with. I'm there to do my business and move on. Not likely I'll see anything I haven't seen before. Yes... A woman should be paid equally for equal work.

Legislative Priorities

In the following area, please explain in a total of 100 words or less, your top two or three priorities if elected. If they require additional funding for implementation, please explain how you would obtain this funding.
- Draft a letter to U.S congress signed by every member of the legislature, that we do not approve of the never ending wars and military actions around the globe that take the live of countless innocent people every day, simply for the enrichment of war profiteers and power hungry elitist in the name of the American people.Introduce a "free range parenting bill" fashioned after the recently passed Utah legislation. Google itIt is my intention to reduce spending!
