Policy Positions

Missouri Congressional Election 2018 Political Courage Test

Abortion

1. Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
- Pro-choice

2. Other or expanded principles
- Both sides should strive for a system of maternal support so that abortion becomes an infrequent option. A mother should never be forced to carry forth with a doomed pregnancy.Once we give a government authority over our reproductive rights we lay ourselves open to another government demanding control of these rights such as occurred in Nazi Germany and Communist China.

Budget

1. In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
- Yes

2. In order to balance the budget, do you support reducing defense spending?
- Yes

3. Other or expanded principles
- Every hard working resident of this greatest country of the world for the past 100 years should earn sufficient money to have the privilege of contributing to our society. Income inequality is the worst scourge on our society. The more fortunate and more productive among us should bear the greater burden of supporting this greatest of nations. All government expenditures should be re-examined with a critical eye!

Campaign Finance

1. Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
- Yes

2. Other or expanded principles
- Unfortunately this will require a congressional amendment, a very high bar to cross.

Economy

1. Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
- No

2. Do you support lowering corporate taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
- No

3. Other or expanded principles
- The owners of the corporations should pay! The newest tax code only favors the rich while driving our nation still further into intolerable debt.

Education

1. Do you support requiring states to adopt federal education standards?
- Yes

2. Other or expanded principles
- Broad brush principles but not micro managing bureaucracy.

Energy & Environment

1. Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, thermal)?
- Yes

2. Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
- Yes

3. Other or expanded principles
- No Answer

Guns

1. Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
- Yes

2. Other or expanded principles
- Regulate but not confiscate!!!The Second Amendment begins: A well regulated militia--.We forget about the regulate part!Universal background checks and waiting periods do NOT impinge upon our right to bear arms!!!Owners, please lock up your firearms!NRA: Please expend your efforts and resources on education and mechanisms to keep weapons out of the hands of the BAD GUYS!

Health Care

1. Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")?
- No

2. Other or expanded principles
- We need comprehensive reform of health care payment mechanisms. This must be integrated with comprehensive immigration reform and comprehensive income inequality reform. The common theme is: comprehensive. A bipartisan approach to these thorny issues is the only answer!!!!!!Currently the poor and the rich have no skin in the game, leaving the hapless middle class holding the bag.

Immigration

1. Do you support the construction of a wall along the Mexican border?
- No

2. Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
- No

3. Other or expanded principles
- A wall is only a bandaid, easily scaled by a 40 foot ladder. Surveillance, 24/7 with 5 minute response time is the only way to effectively interdict wall jumpers and this is economically impossible! We have 12 million people living here in America, under the radar, with no opportunity to earn a living wage, and afraid to interact with the authorities for fear of being deported. These unlawful immigrants must be documented but not given a path to citizenship. They should be guaranteed a place in our society, including the right to come and go as they please.Dreamers: citizens!!!

Marijuana

1. Do you support the legalization of marijuana for recreational purposes?
- Yes

2. Other or expanded principles
- We have the perfect weather to export marijuana to the world.

- No

2. Do you support increased American intervention in Middle Eastern conflicts beyond air support?
- No

3. Other or expanded principles
- No Answer

Administrative Priorities

Please explain in a total of 100 words or less, your top two or three priorities if elected. If they require additional funding for implementation, please explain how you would obtain this funding.
- 1.Tariffs are taxes, paid by the middle class to support the rich and stifle competition.2.Immigration: we need comprehensive reform.3. Firearms: Regulate, not confiscate.4. Environment : compromise between human impact on our world and economic demands of society.
