Budget, Spending, & Tax

State Spending:

Using the key, indicate what state funding levels (#1-6) you support for the following general categories. Select one level per category; you may use a number more than once.

1. Education (higher)
- Greatly Increase

2. Education (K-12)
- No Answer

3. Environment
- Maintain Status

4. Health care
- No Answer

5. Law enforcement/corrections
- Slightly Decrease

6. Transportation/infrastructure
- Greatly Increase

7. Welfare
- Greatly Decrease

8. Other or expanded categories
- I feel welfare benefits should be provided for a step up not a hand out and temporary. Drug testing monthly should be a mandatory stipulation to qualify for benefits and remain on for any amount of time.

State Taxes:

Using the key, indicate what state tax levels (#1-6) you support for the following general categories. Select one level per category; you may use a number more than once.

1. Alcohol taxes
- Eliminate

2. Cigarette taxes
- Maintain Status

3. Corporate taxes
- Greatly Decrease

4. Gas/Oil taxes
- Greatly Decrease

7. Income taxes (low-income families)
- Eliminate

8. Income taxes (mid-income families)
- Eliminate

9. Income taxes (high-income families)
- No Answer

10. Other or expanded principles
- If we could make business attractive in this state we would be able to lower taxes in general. Businesses unfortunately do not want to come or expand to RI. When business is striving the economy booms, jobs are created, consumer spending increases....therefore taking the tax burden away.

Budget Stabilization:

Indicate which proposals you support (if any) for balancing Rhode Island's budget.

1. Tapping into Rhode Island's "rainy day" fund
- No Answer

2. Increasing tuition rates at public universities
- No

3. Reducing or eliminating public worker collective bargaining
- No Answer

4. Reducing state employee salaries AND/OR pensions
- No Answer

5. Instituting mandatory furloughs AND/OR layoffs for state employees
- No Answer

6. Reducing benefits for Medicaid recipients
- No

7. Other or expanded principles
- I am here for my constituents. I need and want to hear from you. Its about what you want. I believe we are in need of a Constitutional Convention. Delegates need to be elected by "we the people" not our General assembly. We need to take back our power as voters and citizens.

Campaign Finance & Government Reform

Do you support limits on the following types of contributions for state candidates?

1. Individual
- Yes

2. Political Action Committee

- Yes

8. Do you support requiring a government-issued photo identification in order to vote at the polls?
- Yes

Do you support limits on the following types of contributions for state candidates?

1. Other or expanded principles
- We need Voter ID...Our current Senator (Cool Rumsey) in District 34 wants to repeal the mandatory voter ID. I believe this is a grave mistake. (We need a ID to rent a movie.) I strongly support having voter ID. Voting is one of the most important things we do as Americans. My Forefather fought for this Right. We know our President is waiting to declare Amnesty after this coming election. Without voter ID in place this will be devastating to our country.

Crime & Public Safety

1. Do you support capital punishment for certain crimes?
- Yes

2. Do you support alternatives to incarceration for certain non-violent offenders, such as mandatory counseling or substance abuse treatment?
- Yes

6. Do you support the enforcement of federal immigration laws by state and local police?
- Yes

7. Do you support requiring labels on foods that have been genetically engineered or contain genetically modified ingredients?
- Yes

8. Other or expanded principles
- I am a great supporter of labeling our GMO foods. GMO's are responsible for many diseases that are greatly ravishing our country. I have been researching this for many years. I personally want to know what I am putting into my body. (If you do not feel the same way don't need to read the labels.) Genetically altering our food will and is killing the natural production of our food chain.

6. Do you support the state government providing college students with financial aid?
- Yes

7. Should illegal immigrants who graduate from Rhode Island high schools be eligible for in-state tuition at public universities?
- No

8. Other or expanded principles
- I think we need a common education system through the country. I do not suppoet this new common core system as the right one. Teachers should be the prime source of education not the Gov't. This system was developed by the Gov't. Educators/Teachers should be the prime source of this system collaboratively not the Government.

2. Should background checks be required on gun sales between private citizens at gun shows?
- No Answer

3. Should citizens be allowed to carry concealed guns?
- Yes

4. Should a license be required for gun possession?
