Fern Shubert (Republican) was a candidate for North Carolina's 9th Congressional District in the U.S. House. Shubert lost the primary on May 14, 2019.
Shubert was a Republican candidate for North Carolina Auditor in the 2012 elections.
Shubert is a certified public accountant. She first worked as a CPA for Arthur Andersen & Company beginning in 1969. Since then she worked for various employers until 1991, when she opened her own CPA office in Marshville.
Shubert was elected to the North Carolina House of Representatives in 1994, 1996, and 2000, and elected to the state Senate in 2002. In 2004, she unsuccessfully ran for governor and lost her bid in 2010 to return to the state Senate.
