Policy Positions

California State Legislative Election 2014 Political Courage Test

Abortion & Reproductive

1. Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
- Pro-life

2. Should abortions be illegal after the first trimester of pregnancy?
- Yes

3. Should abortion be legal when the pregnancy resulted from incest or rape?
- Yes

4. Should abortion be legal when the life of the woman is endangered?
- Yes

5. Do you support requiring parental notification before an abortion is performed on a minor?
- Yes

6. Do you support requiring parental consent before an abortion is performed on a minor?
- Yes

7. Do you support the prohibition of public funds for abortion procedures?
- Yes

8. Do you support the prohibition of public funds for organizations that perform abortions?
- Yes

9. Other or expanded principles
- I am only pro-choice when:1- The child is a result of rape2- The child is a result of incest3- The LIFE, not the health, of the mother is in danger4- There would be no quality of life for the child if they were so severely physically and/or mentally challenged that they could not survive without constant life-support or supervision.Abortion is such a hot button issue that it should be taken out of the hands of politicians and be put in the hands of the People to decide by ballot.

Budget, Spending, & Tax

State Spending:

Using the key, indicate what state funding levels (#1-6) you support for the following general categories. Select one level per category; you may use a number more than once.

1. Education (higher)
- Maintain Status

2. Education (K-12)
- Greatly Increase

3. Environment
- Greatly Decrease

4. Health care
- Eliminate

5. Law enforcement/corrections
- Greatly Increase

6. Transportation/infrastructure
- Eliminate

7. Welfare
- Eliminate

8. Other or expanded categories
- The curriculum at our elementary schools (K-6) should strictly focus on Reading, Writing, Mathematics, History, Geography, and Physical Education ONLY. Only then will they have a foundation for the education that follows.

State Taxes:

Using the key, indicate what state tax levels (#1-6) you support for the following general categories. Select one level per category; you may use a number more than once.

1. Alcohol taxes
- Eliminate

2. Cigarette taxes
- Eliminate

3. Corporate taxes
- Eliminate

4. Gas/Oil taxes
- Eliminate

5. Property taxes
- Greatly Decrease

6. Sales taxes
- Greatly Decrease

7. Income taxes (low-income families)
- Eliminate

8. Income taxes (mid-income families)
- Eliminate

9. Income taxes (high-income families)
- Eliminate

10. Other or expanded principles
- Let us not ever forget what the purpose of the 'Sin Tax' is. It is used to dissuade people from using products that they deem unhealthy. Tobacco, Alcohol, and most recently Gasoline are the targets. California has the highest gasoline taxes in the country due to the environmental lobby who desires to reduce driving. This adversely affects the poor as it impacts their ability to drive to work. It is time for an end to the 'haves' subsidizing the 'have nots.' Fairness and equality can never be achieved by treating one segment of society different from the others.

Budget Stabilization:

Indicate which proposals you support (if any) for balancing California's budget.

1. Tapping into California's "rainy day" fund
- No

2. Increasing tuition rates at public universities
- No

3. Reducing or eliminating public worker collective bargaining
- Yes

4. Reducing state employee salaries AND/OR pensions
- Yes

5. Instituting mandatory furloughs AND/OR layoffs for state employees
- Yes

6. Reducing benefits for Medicaid recipients
- Yes

7. Other or expanded principles
- I believe that all public employee unions should end right now. Also, all government departments that can be replaced by private contractors should be phased out now. As an example, C.C. Myers Inc., the private contractor who repaired the I-10 freeway repairs after the 1994 Northridge quake, something CalTrans could never do. Put all government services out to bid.

Campaign Finance & Government Reform

Do you support limits on the following types of contributions for state candidates?

1. Individual
- No

2. Political Action Committee
- No

3. Corporate
- No

4. Political Party
- No

5. Should candidates for state office be encouraged to meet voluntary spending limits?
- No

6. Do you support requiring full and timely disclosure of campaign finance information?
- Yes

7. Do you support the use of an independent AND/OR bipartisan commission for redistricting?
- No

8. Do you support requiring a government-issued photo identification in order to vote at the polls?
- Yes

Do you support limits on the following types of contributions for state candidates?

1. Other or expanded principles
- I believe that limiting any campaign donation is a violation of the First Amendment. I also feel that term limits are a violation as well...if an elected official is doing a great job, why should the People be denied an opportunity to vote them in again. Voter verification through a photo ID is just common sense. This system is rife with corruption.

Crime & Public Safety

1. Do you support capital punishment for certain crimes?
- Yes

2. Do you support alternatives to incarceration for certain non-violent offenders, such as mandatory counseling or substance abuse treatment?
- No

3. Do you support legalizing the possession of small amounts of marijuana?
- No

4. Should a minor accused of a violent crime be prosecuted as an adult?
- Yes

5. Should a minor who sends sexually-explicit or nude photos by cell phone face criminal charges?
- Yes

6. Do you support the enforcement of federal immigration laws by state and local police?
- Yes

7. Do you support requiring labels on foods that have been genetically engineered or contain genetically modified ingredients?
- No

8. Other or expanded principles
- I would like the list of capital offenses increased to include rape and child molestation While I support prison detoxification and rehabilition, if arrested, I believe that drug manufacturers, distributors, dealers, and pushers should be subject to the death penalty as they are accessories before and after the fact for every drug murder in the world. They should not profit for enslaving our children.

Economic

1. Do you support reducing government regulations on the private sector?
- Yes

2. Do you support increased state funding for job-training programs that re-train displaced workers?
- No

3. Do you support expanding access to unemployment benefits?
- No

4. Do you support providing financial incentives to the private sector for the purpose of job creation?
- No

5. Do you support government spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
- No

6. Do you support providing direct financial assistance to homeowners facing foreclosure?
- No

7. Do you support an increase of the minimum wage?
- No

8. Other or expanded principles
- By reducing regulations and corporate taxes, business itself can create jobs. The government should just get out of the way The minimum wage itself is a job killer. Again, business itself can set it's own prevailing wage. It is a government tool to legally bribe voters. Who wouldn't vote for someone who is giving them more money. I also feel the same way about tenants voting on rent control issues. They will always vote against their landlord raising their rent

Education

- Yes

3. Do you support state funding for improvements to California's energy infrastructure?
- Yes

4. Do you support state funding for open space preservation?
- No

5. Do you support government regulations of greenhouse gas emissions?
- No

6. Other or expanded principles
- Once again I believe that private industry can best solve the energy problems. Crony Capitalism caused the Solyndra scandal...it's too easy to repay donors with federal funds

Gun

1. Do you support restrictions on the purchase and possession of guns?
- No

2. Should background checks be required on gun sales between private citizens at gun shows?
- Yes

3. Should citizens be allowed to carry concealed guns?
- Yes

4. Should a license be required for gun possession?
- No

5. Other or expanded principles
- When I say I support background checks, it is an extremely limited check. It should only be used to make sure that a convicted criminal is not making the purpose. When that is verified, the background check should be destroyed. It is not the government's business how many guns, how much ammunition, or what types of guns the law-abiding citizens own.

Health

1. Do you support a universally-accessible, publicly-administered health insurance option?
- No

2. Do you support expanding access to health care through commercial health insurance reform?

- No group should receive different treatment than any other group.

Legislative Priorities

In the following area, on an attached page, or via e-mail, please explain in a total of 100 words or less, your top two or three priorities if elected. If they require additional funding for implementation, please explain how you would obtain this funding.
- Elementary school educationReducing and even eliminating all taxes. PROTECT PROPOSITION 13.Bring filming back to California If additional funding is needed for any program, the government should make cuts. As citizens, we live on a budget and can only make cuts to afford items as we don't have the ability to raise taxes. Our leaders should run our state the same way.
