'He didn’t have what it takes': Trump revels in Bloomberg's collapse

It took mere minutes Wednesday morning for President Donald Trump to begin tap-dancing on the grave of Mike Bloomberg's presidential campaign.
“Mini Mike Bloomberg just ‘quit’ the race for President,” Trump posted on Twitter shortly after Bloomberg announced he would suspend his 2020 campaign. “I could have told him long ago that he didn’t have what it takes, and he would have saved himself a billion dollars, the real cost. Now he will pour money into Sleepy Joe’s campaign, hoping to save face. It won’t work!”
Bloomberg swung back as he always does, writing on Twitter that he would "see you soon, Donald." The post was accompanied by a brief clip from “Star Wars” in which Obi-Wan Kenobi prepares to battle Darth Vader and says, “You can’t win, Darth. If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine.”
The former New York mayor suspended his campaign just hours after a poor showing on Super Tuesday, where he placed first only in the U.S. territory of American Samoa. Following a late entrance into the race last November, Bloomberg skipped the early states, instead pouring more than half a billion dollars into his campaign to dominate on Super Tuesday and beyond.
But his expansive ground game and flooding the airwaves with ads didn’t pay off, bringing his 101-day-long campaign to a sudden end.
Although his 2020 campaign is over, Bloomberg committed from the outset that win or lose, he would remain engaged in working to unseat Trump from the White House. He has committed to paying his massive campaign team through November's election and will marshal his staff and significant resources to back Biden.
Trump had something to say about that, too.
“Mini Mike Bloomberg will now FIRE Tim O’Brien, and all of the fools and truly dumb people who got him into this MESS,” Trump’s tweet said. “This has been the worst, and most embarrassing, experience of his life...and now on to Sleepy Joe!”
