Policy Positions

California State Legislative Election 2018 Political Courage Test

Abortion & Reproductive

1. Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
- Pro-choice

2. Should abortion be legal when the pregnancy resulted from incest or rape?
- Yes

3. Do you support the prohibition of public funds for organizations that perform abortions?
- Yes

4. Other or expanded principles
- I believe that the decision to terminate a pregnancy is very personal and can only be made by those directly involved/affected. Government should have no say in it however there shouldn't be government funding involved.

Budget, Spending, & Tax

Budget Stabilization:

Indicate which proposals you support (if any) for balancing California's budget.

1. Reducing state employee salaries AND/OR pensions?
- Yes

2. Instituting mandatory furloughs AND/OR layoffs for state employees?
- Yes

3. Reducing benefits for Medicaid recipients?
- No

4. An income tax increase on any tax bracket?
- No

5. Other or expanded principles
- I think that current recipients of both government pensions and state Medicaid programs should continue recieving what was previously approved. However pensions should be eliminated for new hires, and instead use a traditional 401k type program and new Medicaid recipients should be greatly reduces and only cover emergencies. Private sector solutions for health care (i.e. retail care clinics) should be encouraged for preventative care.

Campaign Finance & Government Reform

1. Do you support any limits on campaign contributions to state candidates?
- No

2. Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
- No

3. Do you support the use of an independent AND/OR bipartisan commission for redistricting?
- Yes

4. Do you support requiring a government-issued photo identification in order to vote at the polls?
- No

5. Do you support repealing California's nonpartisan blanket primary election system?
- Yes

6. Other or expanded principles
- I don't support limiting what private citizens and private companies/corporations can contribute to candidates however I would support eliminating contributions from public sector unions. It's collusion at best for the public employee unions to contribute to the legislators that will be negotiating their contrats.

Crime & Public Safety

1. Do you support capital punishment for certain crimes?
- No

2. Do you support the legalization of marijuana for recreational purposes?
- Yes

3. Should a minor accused of a violent crime be prosecuted as an adult?
- No Answer

4. Do you support the enforcement of federal immigration laws by state and local police?
- No

5. Other or expanded principles
- I believe that minors being accused of a violent crime should be taken on a case by case basis, therefore I don't support a blanket position. I believe that there should be no requirement for state and local police to work with ICE however they should also not obstruct federal immigration agents from doing their jobs (especially in terms of violent offenders).

Economic

1. Do you support state government spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
- No

2. Do you support lowering state taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
- Yes

3. Do you support reducing state government regulations on the private sector?
- Yes

4. Do you support expanding access to unemployment benefits?
- No

5. Do you support requiring welfare applicants to pass a drug test in order to receive benefits?
- No

6. Do you support an increase of the minimum wage of California?
- No

7. Do you support expanding state public housing programs?
- No

8. Other or expanded principles
- I don't believe that welfare recipients should be tested for drugs, but I also support greatly reducing welfare programs. In all cases I believe the private sector is better at dealing with these issues than government agencies.

Education

1. Do you support adopting federal education standards in California?
- No

2. Do you support state funding for charter schools?
- Yes

3. Should immigrants unlawfully present in the United States who graduate from California high schools be eligible for in-state tuition at public universities?
- Yes

4. Other or expanded principles
- I believe that the state shouldn't take funds from the federal government for education as it costs us more to take that money in terms of what we have to spend to comply with their standards. I personally believe in school choice!

Environment & Energy

1. Do you support state funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, thermal)?
- No

2. Do you support state government regulations of greenhouse gas emissions?
- No

4. Do you support permanent statewide water usage restrictions?
- No

5. Other or expanded principles
- No Answer

Legislative Priorities

In the following area, please explain in a total of 100 words or less, your top two or three priorities if elected. If they require additional funding for implementation, please explain how you would obtain this funding.
- My top priorities are:1. Reducing taxes and regulations in the state. We currently have the worst business environment in the county and are losing businesses and good paying jobs because of this. 2. Improving our Frustration by eliminating frivolous projects like the high speed rail. The American Society of Civil Engineers rates our infrastructure among the worst in the county so this should be a priority in our existing budget.3. Increasing personal liberties of the citizens of the state by eliminating "Nanny State" legislation. In addition, drug use should be decriminalized.
