James N. Mathias Jr. (b. September 2, 1951) is a Democratic member of the Maryland State Senate, representing District 38. He was first elected to the chamber in 2010. Mathias is running for re-election in the primary on June 26, 2018. The general election will take place on November 6, 2018.
He previously served in the Maryland House of Delegates from 2006 to 2011 and as Mayor of Ocean City from 1996 to 2006.
