Jeff Scott (Libertarian Party) was a candidate for North Carolina's 9th Congressional District in the U.S. House. Scott lost the general special election on September 10, 2019, after advancing from the primary on May 14, 2019.
Scott ran for the same seat in the general election on November 6, 2018, after advancing from the primary on May 8, 2018. The North Carolina State Board of Elections called for a new election in the district on February 21, 2019, following a months-long investigation into alleged ballot tampering and election fraud.
Scott was a Libertarian candidate for District 6 representative on the Charlotte City Council in North Carolina. Scott was defeated in the general election on November 7, 2017.
Scott received degrees in economics and statistics from San Francisco State University. He has been an adjunct scholar at the Mises Institute of Auburn, Alabama. A financial technology consultant, Scott has worked for Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco, Wells Fargo Bank, Visa, and Bank of America. His professional experience also includes 30 years in business intelligence, banking, and the financial sector, including working as an economist with Federal Home Loan Bank. Scott is married and has two children. He moved to Charlotte in 2011. Scott has also volunteered in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and served as the chair of the Mecklenburg County Libertarian Party.
