Jim Tomes (b. July 31, 1948) is a Republican member of the Indiana State Senate, representing District 49. He was first elected to the chamber in 2010. Tomes is running for re-election in the primary on May 8, 2018. The general election will take place on November 6, 2018.

On July 18, 2016, Tomes filed a declaration of candidacy to fill a ballot vacancy for the office of Governor of Indiana following incumbent Mike Pence's (R) withdrawal from the ticket. Lt. Governor Eric Holcomb (R) was selected instead.
