Abortion & Reproductive

1. Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?

3. Do you support the prohibition of public funds for organizations that perform abortions?

Budget, Spending, & Tax

Budget Stabilization:

Indicate which proposals you support (if any) for balancing West Virginia's budget.

1. Reducing state employee salaries AND/OR pensions?
- No

2. Instituting mandatory furloughs AND/OR layoffs for state employees?
- No

3. Reducing benefits for Medicaid recipients?
- No

4. An income tax increase on any tax bracket?
- No

5. Other or expanded principles
- I support doubling the severance tax on natural gas. This will bring in several hundred million new dollars and is not a tax on West Virginia's citizens, since most of the gas drilled in West Virginia is sold out-of-state. Therefore most of the "value-added" jobs created will be out-of-state. Any in-state consumption of West Virginia drilled gas creating "value-added" jobs could be compensated for with an income tax reduction. This tax will not cost the state any drilling jobs, as the gas now being drilled is so valuable the companies will pay the higher tax to get it.
