John Kuempel is a Republican member of the Texas House of Representatives, representing District 44. He was first elected to the chamber in a special election on December 14, 2010. Kuempel is running for re-election in 2018. The primary election took place on March 6, 2018. The general election is being held on November 6, 2018.
John received a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Austin. He was born and raised in Seguin and was one of the Top-Ten graduates of Seguin High School. He was active in high school sports, playing football and baseball before becoming a walk-on member of the University of Texas football team.
