Kelly DeLucia

D
Policy Positions

Kelly's campaign website highlights the following issues:

EDUCATION

At Kelly's core you will find an educator. Her nature is to lead, instruct, and mentor. She has a passion for learning and a deep respect for educators. Virginia is facing an education crisis: a shortage of teachers looms on the horizon, and we must take steps to retain, retrain, and recruit talent. Kelly believes we need to raise teachers' salaries and provide them both more autonomy and more support. It doesn't take any imagination at all to see how improving the lives of educators will positively affect communities. In Kelly's mind, it all starts here.

ENVIRONMENT

Kelly grew up in the 96th, and she wants her children to enjoy the water as all of us raised here have. Kelly will advocate for responsible stewardship of our natural resources in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed. Kelly also believes mitigating the effects of global climate change must be a top priority. She holds a degree in Public Administration specializing in Environmental Science from Indiana University's prestigious School of Public and Environmental Affairs. She also interned in the Pentagon for the Assistant Secretary of the Navy, Office of Installations and Environment. Kelly possesses the passion and knowledge to make meaningful contributions to discussions in this arena - with a constant focus on delivering results and treating our environment with respect.

EQUALITY

As a member of the LGBTQ community, Kelly is committed to advancing and defending equality. Treating everyone as equal under the law, accepting the diversity of our people as a fundamentally American strength - these ideals fuel Kelly's commitment on this front. And as we've seen in North Carolina, discrimination and bigotry are bad for business.
