Poor Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman. After he decided to break ranks and tell a tall tale about his commander-in-chief over an issue that was way above his paygrade, the U.S. Army officer says he’s leaving the military because he’s been “bullied” by President Donald Trump.

You may remember Vindman’s name: He was one of the Democrats’ key impeachment witnesses during their ‘investigation’ into the president’s ‘highly illegal’ ‘quid pro quo’ involving the Ukrainian government last summer.

On Wednesday, Lt. Col. Alexander Vindmanshared the news of his resignation on Twitter, “Today I officially requested retirement from the US Army, an organization I love. My family and I look forward to the next chapter of our lives.”

In a separate statement, David Pressman — a lawyer for Vindman — wrote, “After more than 21 years of military service, Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Vindman is retiring today after it has been made clear that his future within the institution he has dutifully served will be forever limited.”

“Through a campaign of bullying, intimidation, and retaliation, the President of the United States attempted to force LTC Vindman to choose: Between adhering to the law or pleasing a President. Between honoring his oath or protecting his career. Between protecting his promotion or the promotion of his fellow soldiers. These are choices that no one in the United States should confront, especially one who has dedicated his life to serving it,” the statement continued.

“LTC Vindman did what the law compelled him to do; and for that he was bullied by the President and his proxies. And yet, LTC Vindman would not be intimidated and will not be corrupted. He did what he has always done: put the interests of his country ahead of his own,” Pressman continued.

Yes, well, about that ‘putting his country ahead of the president’ bit: There is the fact that Trump did nothing wrong in his dealings and conversations with Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky.

For instance, President Trump never threatened to withhold military aid to Ukraine unless Zelensky ordered an investigation into dealings between an energy firm, Burisma, and Joe and Hunter Biden, the latter of whom was employed as a board member for tens of thousands a month while daddy was vice president.

And let’s not forget that Burisma was under investigation for corruption by the top Ukrainian prosecutor at the same time Hunter Biden was a board member.

And let’s always remember that Joe Biden is on video bragging that he got that prosecutor fired in a legitimate quid pro quo deal in which the former VP threatened to withhold a $1 billion loan unless the prosecutor was dismissed.

Oh, and Trump actually released the transcript of the ‘problematic’ phone conversation he had with Zelensky, proving without a doubt there was nothing for Vindman & Co. to be concerned about. 

So in other words, Vindman is the one who violated his oath of office – to support, defend, and uphold the Constitution (which includes being faithful to the commander-in-chief, whoever he is).
