Policy Positions

West Virginia State Legislative Election 2018 Political Courage Test

Abortion & Reproductive

1. Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
- Pro-life

2. Should abortion be legal when the pregnancy resulted from incest or rape?
- Yes

3. Do you support the prohibition of public funds for organizations that perform abortions?
- Yes

4. Other or expanded principles
- My background and belief is based on the King James Bible. I hate to think we say we don't want abortion because we have to use tax payer funds to pay for it. I would hope people would not want abortion so they could follow God's plan.

Budget, Spending, & Tax

Budget Stabilization:

Indicate which proposals you support (if any) for balancing West Virginia's budget.

1. Reducing state employee salaries AND/OR pensions?
- No

2. Instituting mandatory furloughs AND/OR layoffs for state employees?
- No

3. Reducing benefits for Medicaid recipients?
- No

4. An income tax increase on any tax bracket?
- No

5. Other or expanded principles
- no new taxes, no cuts to promises we have made to people.

Campaign Finance & Government Reform

1. Do you support any limits on campaign contributions to state candidates?
- Yes

2. Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
- Yes

3. Do you support the use of an independent AND/OR bipartisan commission for redistricting?
- Yes

4. Do you support requiring a government-issued photo identification in order to vote at the polls?
- Yes

5. Other or expanded principles
- It's pitiful, what we have allowed to happen.

Crime & Public Safety

1. Do you support capital punishment for certain crimes?
- Yes

2. Do you support expanding existing medical marijuana laws to include edible and/or respiratory forms of marijuana?
- No

3. Do you support the legalization of marijuana for recreational purposes?
- No

4. Should a minor accused of a violent crime be prosecuted as an adult?
- Yes

5. Do you support the enforcement of federal immigration laws by state and local police?
- Yes

6. Other or expanded principles
- without laws( being enforced) we are nothing, and we see it more everyday, the degradation of society. From the political corruption down the addict walking the street because there is no room for him in jail! Jail is any place a person is held!

Economic

1. Do you support state government spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
- No

2. Do you support lowering state taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
- Yes

3. Do you support reducing state government regulations on the private sector?
- Yes

4. Do you support expanding access to unemployment benefits?
- No

5. Do you support requiring welfare applicants to pass a drug test in order to receive benefits?
- Yes

6. Do you support an increase of the minimum wage of West Virginia?
- No

7. Other or expanded principles
- Drug test us all!

Education

1. Do you support adopting federal education standards in West Virginia?
- No

2. Do you support state funding for charter schools?
- No

3. Should immigrants unlawfully present in the United States who graduate from West Virginia high schools be eligible for in-state tuition at public universities?
- No

4. Do you support increasing funding for the state education budget?
- No

5. Other or expanded principles
- Charter schools are money grabs, home school and Christian schools do a great job, give the students a little voucher, but we can't give the full $10,000 spent on each student in public schools. $3-4,000 voucher will allow family some relief on home school or christian school, but will allow county to maintain what they have. Education has a rude awakening coming. 63% of the real estate tax money in Cabell County. The state budget directs about half of their money to education. Teachers pay $500 a month for health insurance while most may $800-1200. Affordable Care Act at $800-1200.

Environment & Energy

1. Do you support state funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, thermal)?
- No

2. Do you support state government regulations of greenhouse gas emissions?
- No

3. Do you support increasing state funding for clean drinking water initiatives?
- No

4. Other or expanded principles
- Government does a terrible job! There is no way we can drink creek water. The Ohio river is the dirtiest river on earth and Wv American Water makes it so clean I can drink it from the tap. I support the growth of Wv American Water.

Gun

1. Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
- No

2. Should background checks be required on gun sales between private citizens at gun shows?
- Yes

3. Should teachers be allowed to bring guns into the classroom?
- Yes

4. Should a license be required for gun ownership?
- No

5. Other or expanded principles
- The dumbest thing in the world is to think taking guns from law abiding citizens is the answer. One day the wild animals of the woods are going to need more food, if we don't promote more hunting. If you are out walking and can't protect yourself, what are you chances? I am for the second amendment and common sense!

Health

1. Should the state government increase funding for treatment facilities to combat opioid abuse?
- No

2. Do you support Medicaid expansion through West Virginia's health care programs?
- No

3. Do you support requiring individuals to purchase health care insurance?
- No

4. Do you support legislation that grants citizens the right to choose to die through euthanasia?
- No

5. Do you support eliminating religious exemptions for vaccinations?
- Yes

6. Other or expanded principles
- We can't expand anything til we do an audit and see where we are. More money.... to me ends up being renting more space and hiring more people, and no measurable results. I have thirty years experience in health insurance, I can solve this problem. The definition of insurance is we all pay in a little, and that pool of cash pays the big claims. Affordable Care said you don't have to pay, you get a tax credit, we are gonna pay part of yours, etc. We all need to pay in to the system, to use it.

Social

1. Do you support the inclusion of sexual orientation in West Virginia's anti-discrimination laws?
- No

2. Do you support the inclusion of gender identity in West Virginia's anti-discrimination laws?
- No

3. Do you support greater efforts by West Virginia state government in closing the pay gap between men and women?
- Yes

4. Other or expanded principles
- I want people with a penis to use the man bathroom and people will a vagina to use the women's bathroom. I want the death penalty for any one caught harming a child in this environment.

Legislative Priorities

In the following area, please explain in a total of 100 words or less, your top two or three priorities if elected. If they require additional funding for implementation, please explain how you would obtain this funding.
- I believe in quick results! The quickest way to get new money to West Virginia is tourism. I propose getting rid of the department and sending that money to the State Senate districts. The Senator and the house members of that district pass out the tourism promotion dollars to the front line. Second, manufacturing, every machine shop I have in my district wants people. I want to get rid of economic development, and do the same things with those funds. We need money to the front lines, tired of all of the rented office space, staff.
