Policy Positions

New Hampshire State Legislative Election 2018 Political Courage Test

Abortion & Reproductive

1. Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
- Pro-choice

2. Should abortion be legal when the pregnancy resulted from incest or rape?
- Yes

3. Do you support the prohibition of public funds for organizations that perform abortions?
- No

4. Other or expanded principles
- The government has no place in deciding what is perhaps the hardest choice a woman can make in her life.

Budget, Spending, & Tax

Budget Stabilization:

Indicate which proposals you support (if any) for balancing New Hampshire's budget.

1. Reducing state employee salaries AND/OR pensions?
- No

2. Instituting mandatory furloughs AND/OR layoffs for state employees?
- No

3. Reducing benefits for Medicaid recipients?
- No

4. Other or expanded principles
- Taxed, legalized marijuana would help our state raise the revenue needed to maintain services and infrastructure. We should roll back the Sununu tax cuts for Walmart and other corporate entities that had already had their taxes cut last biennium. Citizens should realize that a tax break for these corporations is an increased tax burden for them. Essential services need to be funded, infrastructure needs maintenance.A tax cut to a corporate entity is, in effect, a subsidy. Property owners then have to make up for the revenue lost.

Campaign Finance & Government Reform

1. Do you support any limits on campaign contributions to state candidates?
- Yes

2. Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
- Yes

3. Do you support the use of an independent AND/OR bipartisan commission for redistricting?
- Yes

4. Do you support requiring a government-issued photo identification in order to vote at the polls?
- No

5. Do you support imposing penalties on state legislators who fail to attend legislative sessions?
- Yes

6. Other or expanded principles
- Out of state money has no place in campaigns for our state legislatures. Stockholders in corporations have no say in how corporate money is targeted; corporations should not be able to wield their economic clout in the electoral process. Corporations are not people, and should have no civic rights. Non partisan redistricting is crucial to democracy. There needs be sensible workarounds for photo id so all eligible can vote.Non active state legislators should be sanctioned.

Crime & Public Safety

1. Do you support capital punishment for certain crimes?
- No

2. Do you support the legalization of marijuana for recreational purposes?
- Yes

3. Should a minor accused of a violent crime be prosecuted as an adult?
- No

4. Do you support the enforcement of federal immigration laws by state and local police?
- No

5. Other or expanded principles
- Minors should be evaluated for prosecution as an adult. The majority would not be. State and local law enforcement officers should not be accessories to ICE.

Economic

1. Do you support state government spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
- Yes

2. Do you support lowering state taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
- No

3. Do you support reducing state government regulations on the private sector?
- No

4. Do you support expanding access to unemployment benefits?
- Yes

5. Do you support requiring welfare applicants to pass a drug test in order to receive benefits?
- No

6. Do you support an increase of the minimum wage of New Hampshire?
- Yes

7. Other or expanded principles
- Fixing/maintaining infrastructure promotes economic growth, and requires state spending. Lowering taxes on flesh and blood citizens to promote growth is good. Regulations on private sector act as referees to keep playing field level. Bad actors needDrug test legislatures from Governor to alderman if you'd test welfare applicants. Our states future relies on a living wage to attract and keep workers and promote growth in our consumer spending based economy.

Education

1. Do you support adopting federal education standards in New Hampshire?
- Yes

2. Do you support state funding for charter schools?
- No

3. Should immigrants unlawfully present in the United States who graduate from New Hampshire high schools be eligible for in-state tuition at public universities?
- Yes

4. Other or expanded principles
- Charter schools duplicate public schools- would we pay tax dollars to folks who pay a private company to protect their home from fire? Would we give tax money because they bought hoses and choose to "home firefight" rather than rely on the municipal fire department?Unlawfully present immigrants are largely the result of US policies such as NAFTA and tacit support for the Honduran Coup. By 2030 about 28% of workforce will be over 65. We need young workers to keep NH vital. Students who attend college in NH stay. We need them. We need a path to citizenship.

Environment & Energy

1. Do you support state funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, thermal)?
- Yes

2. Do you support state government regulations of greenhouse gas emissions?

Legislative Priorities

In the following area, please explain in a total of 100 words or less, your top two or three priorities if elected. If they require additional funding for implementation, please explain how you would obtain this funding.
- As the foundation of our state, working families need a fair and just economy to thrive. By implementing paid family and medical leave as well as a livable wage annually indexed to inflation we can keep and attract the young couples and families the Granite State needs. Our growing workforce will benefit further by making education affordable at state schools. Taxed and legalized cannabis will offer our government a new income stream while removing people and profits from the criminal underworld.
