In yet another surrender to the "woke" revolutionaries, the National Football League will reportedly allow players to display decals expressing their leftist politics on their helmets this season. 

According to reports, the NFL will permit its multimillionaire malcontents to extend a big middle finger to patriotic fans by wearing tributes to "victims of systemic racism and police violence" when the 2020 season kicks off in September. 

The move is the latest attempt to appease those who are not football fans but have brought immense pressure on the NFL to politicize its product by essentially agreeing to destroy a successful brand that has been built over 100 years. 

The decals won't be as in your face as the NBA's display of "social justice" slogans on the back of player jerseys but the message that is being sent to millions of fans that they just might be racists is unlikely to a successful marketing strategy in the long term.

The NFL is planning to allow players to have decals on the back of their helmets bearing names of victims of systemic racism and police violence.

The league has been in talks with individual players and their union since June about somehow honoring such victims. The initiative will be done league-wide, with each team deciding who it will honor and how to display the names.

Unlike the NBA, which is allowing players to wear slogans on their jerseys, the NFL will stick to names once a final agreement has been reached with the players’ association. The program will continue for the entire season.

This initiative is something of a breakthrough because the league has not allowed such messaging, except for during its October NFL Crucial Catch program in conjunction with the fight against breast cancer, and in its November salutes to the military. Players also have been allowed to represent a cause on their cleats one weekend per season.

But a 17-week campaign such as the one being planned is something new for the NFL.

This latest capitulation to the "woke" mob comes on the heels of the league's divisive plan to play the song "Lift Every Voice And Sing" also known as the black national anthem as an alternate national anthem before games. 

Just imagine the optics of all players standing for "Lift Every Voice And Sing" then hitting their knees for the traditional rendition of the "Star-Spangled Banner" which has been deemed to be a racist song by Black Lives Matter and their fellow travelers and targeted for cancellation.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell who apologized to players who previously kneeled during the national anthem, a practice that was discouraged by the league after the 2017 season of empty stadium seats and cratering television ratings is betting the house on an appeal to non-football fans, many of whom just hate white people. 

In related news, for those fans who do show up to watch games in person in cities not controlled by totalitarian Democrats, they will be forced to endure the wearing of the face masks that have become a symbol of a nation that like the NFL, has already surrendered to the forces of darkness. 

The season officially kicks off on September 10th with a nationally televised contest between the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs and the Houston Texans.
