Paula Hicks-Hudson is a Democratic candidate for District 44 of the Ohio House of Representatives. The primary election is being held on May 8, 2018. The general election will take place on November 6, 2018.

Hicks-Hudson is the former mayor of Toledo in Ohio. Hicks-Hudson was initially appointed to the position in 2015 by the Toledo City Council. Hicks-Hudson lost a re-election campaign in the general election on November 7, 2017. Although municipal positions in Toledo are officially nonpartisan, Hicks-Hudson was affiliated with the Democratic Party.

Hudson previously represented District 4 on the Toledo City Council. She was appointed to the council in January 2011 to serve a partial term following the resignation of Michael Ashford. She won election to a full term in November 2011 and served until her appointment as mayor.

Hicks-Hudson is from Hamilton, Ohio. She received a bachelor's degree in political science and journalism from Spelman College in 1973, a master's degree in communications development from Colorado State University in 1975, and a J.D. from the University of Iowa. Hicks-Hudson has worked as an attorney for the Toledo Legal Aid Society, an assistant prosecutor for Lucas County, and an assistant public defender.
