Philip Young (Democrat) is a member of the Connecticut House of Representatives, representing District 120. Young was elected to the office on February 27, 2018.

A special Committee on Contested Elections had until February 4, 2019, to review the outcome of the 2018 election in House District 120b. The committee was split among party lines. The House did not vote on holding a new election before the legislative session ended on June 5, 2019.

Phil Young is state representative for Connecticut's 120th district. Phil is a past director of the Connecticut Citizen’s Action Group, working on consumer and environmental issues. He was also a director in the Storrs based CT Public Interest Research Group.

2018 special election

CT House District 120

A special election for the position of Connecticut House of Representatives District 120 was held on February 27, 2018. The Democratic and Republican town committees nominated their chosen candidates. Candidates could also get on the ballot by submitting petitions by January 24, 2018.

The seat became vacant due to the resignation of Laura Hoydick (R), who left office after she was sworn into office as mayor of Stratford.

The Democratic Town Committee nominated Philip Young to run in the race, and the Republican Town Committee nominated Bill Cabral. Young won the election.
