Policy Positions

Idaho State Legislative Election 2018 Political Courage Test

Abortion & Reproductive

1. Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
- Pro-choice

2. Should abortion be legal when the pregnancy resulted from incest or rape?
- Yes

3. Do you support the prohibition of public funds for organizations that perform abortions?
- No

4. Other or expanded principles
- I support education and prevention to reduce the number of abortions to as close to zero as possible. Education, not government control of other peoples bodies, is the solution to bring abortion to as close to near zero as possible. In the history of mankind, outlawing something has never stopped it. The above question as always is a misleading political saw. I am a pro-life person who supports education and prevention.

Budget, Spending, & Tax

Budget Stabilization:

Indicate which proposals you support (if any) for balancing Idaho's budget.

1. Reducing state employee salaries AND/OR pensions?
- No

2. Instituting mandatory furloughs AND/OR layoffs for state employees?
- No

3. Reducing benefits for Medicaid recipients?
- No

4. An income tax increase on any tax bracket?
- Yes

5. Other or expanded principles
- There are twenty-two corporate sales tax exemptions that can be ended to raise 750 million dollars a year for our schools. In addition, corporations received large federal tax breaks this last year. In addition, they received another half percent from the state. They can pay more on the state level. Trickle down is a myth that has never worked in all of human history. It is time to stop levying property tax bonds which unbalance education in violation of article 9 section 1 of the Idaho constitution. I oppose tax increases on the working and middle class.

Campaign Finance & Government Reform

1. Do you support any limits on campaign contributions to state candidates?
- Yes

2. Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
- Yes

3. Do you support the use of an independent AND/OR bipartisan commission for redistricting?
- Yes

4. Do you support requiring a government-issued photo identification in order to vote at the polls?
- No

5. Other or expanded principles
- No Answer

Crime & Public Safety

1. Do you support capital punishment for certain crimes?
- Yes

2. Do you support the legalization of marijuana for recreational purposes?
- No

3. Should a minor accused of a violent crime be prosecuted as an adult?
- Yes

4. Do you support the enforcement of federal immigration laws by state and local police?
- Yes

5. Do you support the legalization of Cannabidiol Oil (CBD) for medical purposes?
- Yes

6. Do you support prohibiting the use of handheld electronic devices while operating a motor vehicle?
- Yes

7. Other or expanded principles
- No Answer

Economic

1. Do you support state government spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
- Yes

2. Do you support lowering state taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
- No

3. Do you support reducing state government regulations on the private sector?
- No

4. Do you support expanding access to unemployment benefits?
- Yes

5. Do you support requiring welfare applicants to pass a drug test in order to receive benefits?
- Yes

6. Do you support an increase of the minimum wage of Idaho?
- Yes

7. Other or expanded principles
- More carefully worded loaded questions. The state is like a property. I support investments in education and infrastructure. This will make Idaho more attractive to better employers. It will also benefit small business by reducing time wasted on poorly maintained roads as well as better customer access. It is time to end Idaho's race to the bottom.

Education

1. Do you support adopting federal education standards in Idaho?
- Yes

2. Do you support state funding for charter schools?
- Yes

3. Should immigrants unlawfully present in the United States who graduate from Idaho high schools be eligible for in-state tuition at public universities?
- Yes

4. Should elementary students' reading test scores influence teachers' pay raises?
- No

5. Other or expanded principles
- b)Only if the charter school abides by approved curriculum. c)Chances are if they are a student graduating high school, they were brought here by parents. Unless we wish to start punishing everyone for the errors of parents, I would say they should have a chance to become citizens and pay in state tuition. Then they can pay taxes.

Environment & Energy

1. Do you support state funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, thermal)?
- Yes

2. Do you support state government regulations of greenhouse gas emissions?
- Yes

3. Do you support increasing state funding for clean drinking water initiatives?
- Yes

4. Other or expanded principles
- These issues are not an abstraction. A poisoned environment means tyranny and death. The opposite of life and liberty. I support very strict regulation on hydraulic drilling in Idaho.

Gun

1. Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
- No

2. Should background checks be required on gun sales between private citizens at gun shows?
- Yes

3. Should teachers be allowed to bring guns into the classroom?
- No

4. Should a license be required for gun ownership?
- No

5. Other or expanded principles
- We need to explore solutions between two forms of tyranny. The tyranny of being taken away vs. the tyranny of a madman or an idiot with a gun. Only through careful and thoughtful dialogue can we balance the liberty of self defense with the liberty of not being mass murdered in the public square.

Health

1. Should the state government increase funding for treatment facilities to combat opioid abuse?
- Yes

2. Do you support Medicaid expansion through Idaho's health care programs?
- Yes

3. Do you support requiring individuals to purchase health care insurance?
- No

4. Do you support legislation that grants citizens the right to choose to die through euthanasia?
- Yes

5. Do you support eliminating religious exemptions for vaccinations?
- Yes

6. Other or expanded principles
- Sound scientific data shows that vaccines stop the spread of infectious diseases. Any individual or corporate liberty ends where others' liberties begin. My children as well as those of others have a right not to be exposed to terrible diseases that can be stopped.

Social

1. Do you support the inclusion of sexual orientation in Idaho's anti-discrimination laws?
- Yes

2. Do you support the inclusion of gender identity in Idaho's anti-discrimination laws?
- Yes

3. Do you support greater efforts by Idaho state government in closing the pay gap between men and women?
- Yes

4. Other or expanded principles
- No Answer

Legislative Priorities

In the following area, please explain in a total of 100 words or less, your top two or three priorities if elected. If they require additional funding for implementation, please explain how you would obtain this funding.
- Education. Supply the general fund as earlier stated by corporate taxes and fewer property tax bonds. Wages. More investment in the state and better education will result in higher wages. Health Care. It is time for Medicaid expansion. This will save money and benefit small business. It will save money especially by lowering indigent and panic emergency costs.
