Policy Positions

Rimma Yakobovich's campaign website highlights the following issues:

Taxes

  • Repeal $0.23 gas tax. This tax hurts us in many ways. It hurts us when we are paying an extra 23 cents per gallon at the gas station. Additionally it hurts us when we are paying for products and services that already include increased transportation expense in the price. It also hurts us because businesses are losing profits that lead to loss of tax revenue for NJ and encouraging businesses to go bankrupt or leave NJ. For us, in both scenarios, it means loss of jobs. The $0.23 increase to the gas tax per gallon gave NJ more problems than revenue.
  • Reduce NJ taxes. NJ has one of the highest in the union budget deficit. Raising taxes will not reduce the deficit because while the taxes are growing, the deficit is growing faster. My solution:
  • Cut spending on unnecessary projects.

School

  • Support school choice. Establish school voucher (credit) for each student that can be applied to school of choice: public, private, charter, religious, or homeschool. When schools will need to compete for the students they will bring the quality of education up, while bring the cost of education down. School choice based on vouchers will allow kids from low income communities to attend school based on their choice, not based on their address. With schools competing for students, the students will get better education and NJ residents will spend less for it.

2nd Amendment

  • I am a strong supporter of the 2nd Amendment. When crime are committed I blame the criminals, not their guns. I don't believe that criminals will obey gun laws whether they exist or not.

Jobs

  • I will work to create a business friendly environment for entrepreneurship and new businesses. I will work on incentives to attract businesses to move to NJ.
  • I will promote job training programs and first job programs. Work toward creating an easier for individuals transitioning from social programs into the job force.

Drugs

  • Propose laws that treat drug manufacturers, distributers, and dealers as mass murders because their crimes are causing the death of thousands of New Jerseyans.
  • Offer medical help to drug addicted people who are seeking help.
