Policy Positions

Michigan Congressional Election 2018 Political Courage Test

Abortion

1. Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
- Pro-life

2. Other or expanded principles
- I support the right to life and will fight to be a voice for those in our society that do not have a voice, or are the elderly who may be too weak to stand up for themselves.

Budget

1. In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
- No

2. In order to balance the budget, do you support reducing defense spending?
- Yes

3. Other or expanded principles
- You can not stregnthen the Military by weakening our economy. We must cut costs in areas of waste. I do NOT believe you achieve a growing and expanding economy by raising taxes, or by cutting Social Security benefits. These are core issues for me and will work to cut wasteful spending without harming individuals in our society.

Campaign Finance

1. Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
- Yes

2. Other or expanded principles
- I support public financing of campaigns and the total elimination of all internal, external and personal funds on campaigns. If we are serrious about eliminating corruption, we must get the money out of politics.

Economy

1. Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
- No

2. Do you support lowering corporate taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
- Yes

3. Other or expanded principles
- Increasing Federal spending grows the government and in the end state, slows economic growth by growing the government. When you lower corporate taxes, the investment into the business operation, human resources and economic expansion grows the economy and develops jobs for individuals. When you lower taxes, it also becomes more advantageous for business to invest in our nation and promotes overall economic growth.

Education

1. Do you support requiring states to adopt federal education standards?
- No

2. Other or expanded principles
- Federal Standards should protect all students, but our federal programs have become onerous and have grown a life of their own, by not improving education, or safety in our schools. Education is a State issue and the funds that are currently in the Federal beauracracy are being wasted and not focused on improving education for our children. This is a failure of both political parties because they have not placed the welfare of our future above political battles that have eliminated basics and STEM education for failed programs such as Common Core.

Energy & Environment

1. Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, thermal)?
- Yes

2. Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
- No

3. Other or expanded principles
- Our infrastructure and improved access to commerce are examples of where government should play a role in building up the nation, our security and our economy. Although I am skeptical of the ability to sustain many renewable energies, Thermal Energy is one that we should continue to pursue for electric power. This is in the nation's national security interest and is as dependable as our Fossil Fuels our nation has.

Guns

1. Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
- Yes

2. Other or expanded principles
- I support the 2nd Amendment of our Constitution, as well as the US Supreme Court decision in Heller (2008). We have current gun control background checks and we must enforce those, and criminalize false statements made on the USAFTF 4473's. We should also enforce all current laws that we have.

Health Care

1. Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")?
- Yes

2. Other or expanded principles
- The ACA has been improperly designed and has caused more stress on the Health Insurance costs than any other significant factor. There are less insurers willing to participate in the governmentally created exchanges and there is no ability to alllow for competition amongst providers. This is an issue that MUST be addressed because our system is failing and cost keep increasing well above the consumer's price index.

Immigration

1. Do you support the construction of a wall along the Mexican border?
- Yes

2. Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
- Yes

3. Other or expanded principles
- I support enforcing our borders.

Marijuana

1. Do you support the legalization of marijuana for recreational purposes?
- No

2. Other or expanded principles
- I support the federal investigation into canabaliod medicines, but I do not support the legalization of marijuana for recreational purposes.

National Security

1. Should the United States use military force in order to prevent governments hostile to the U.S. from possessing a nuclear weapon?
- Yes

2. Do you support increased American intervention in Middle Eastern conflicts beyond air support?
- Unknown Position

3. Other or expanded principles
- We must not allow the proliferation of nuclear weapons. As a retired Military Officer myself, I am even more focused on this threat than most individuals. The proliferation of nuclear weapons could be used in military actions against our nation, as well as terrror attacks that would be devastating, and we MUST stop this from happening.

Administrative Priorities

Please explain in a total of 100 words or less, your top two or three priorities if elected. If they require additional funding for implementation, please explain how you would obtain this funding.
- I would like to enforce our borders and eliminate sanctuary cities, cut wasteful spending and balance our federal budget. These are the most important issues of the day and I am more prepared to take these issues on, than any of my opponents in Michigan's 11th Congressional District.
