Sharon Beloin-Saavedra (Republican) was a candidate who sought election to the Connecticut House of Representatives to represent District 24. Beloin-Saavedra lost the general election on November 6, 2018.
Beloin-Saavedra was an at-large member of the New Britain Board of Education. She won re-election to the board as a Democratic candidate against five other candidates on November 5, 2013. Beloin-Saavedra first won election to the board in 2005. Beloin-Saavedra was a 2016 Democratic candidate for District 6 of the Connecticut State Senate. She was defeated in the Democratic primary.
Beloin-Saavedra graduated from New Britain High School in 1983. She later earned a B.A. in political science from Central Connecticut State University. Beloin-Saavedra was a member of the New Britain Common Council from 1989 to 1993. She served as a legislative assistant to State Senator Joseph Harper from 1991 to 1994. Beloin-Saavedra and her husband, Ed Saavedra, have three children.
