August 13, 2020If you have found yourself wondering aloud recently if you are the only person in the country who abhors the continuous looting, rioting, and pillaging taking place in our major cities, take heart.
You’re not alone. Not by a long shot.

A new survey of likely voters from one of the most reliable polling firms today, Rasmussen Reports, found that the vast majority of respondents are sick and tired of what’s going on and want police to intervene to stop the madness.
Rasmussen notes:
Voters are ready for the police to put an end to the continuing violent protests nationwide. Most also say the protests will be important to their vote in the upcoming elections.
When asked which is closer to their own thinking, 50% of Likely U.S. Voters say the police should crack down on the protests to bring them to an end. A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 38% disagree and believe the protests should be allowed to continue until the protesters decide to end them. Eleven percent (11%) are undecided.
It gets better. And even more telling.
There is a sharp partisan divide (surprise!) as well. Fully 75 percent of self-identified Republicans surveyed want police to intervene, just a plurality – 47 percent – of unaffiliated voters did. What’s more, less than one-third (31 percent) of Democrats think police should intervene.
And what’s more, a majority of Democrats – 56 percent – say the protests should be allowed to continue as long as the protesters want.
That tells us several things: 1) Democrats don’t own businesses that are being destroyed or looted; 2) Democrats who do own businesses don’t own them in parts of the county where rioters and looters are destroying businesses; 3) More Democrat voters are in on the rioting and looting; and 4) Democrats are why we are still having to deal with rioting and looting months after George Floyd died.
But Democrats, overall, are outside of the mainstream (as usual). Rasmussen notes further:
Seventy-two percent (72%) of all voters say they are concerned about the growing level of violent protest nationwide, with 43% who are Very Concerned.
And in another finding that should wake up a party that has done everything in its power to enable and foment the violence:
Sixty-two percent (62%) say the growing level of violent protest is important to their vote in the next election, including 35% who say it is a Very important voting issue.
"The violent protests champion defunding police departments and using that money for social programs. But 66% of Americans oppose defunding the police in the community where they live. Sixty-one percent (61%) believe violent crime is likely to go up in communities that defund the police," Rasmussen adds.
More: Whites are more concerned about the rioting and looting than blacks, while 49 percent of Republicans rate the violence as being Very Important to their upcoming November voting, while Democrats and unaffiliated voters, not so much.
Now, at least, you know why most of the looting and violence is occurring in Democrat-run cities.
