Policy Positions

Indiana State Legislative Election 2018 Political Courage Test

Abortion & Reproductive

1. Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
- Pro-life

2. Should abortion be legal when the pregnancy resulted from incest or rape?
- Yes

3. Do you support the prohibition of public funds for organizations that perform abortions?
- No

4. Other or expanded principles
- (a) Personally abortion is a procedure I would not encourage. (b) There are many reasons a person contemplating this has to take into consideration. It is a decision those involved directly has to make. Before it was legal reports of back room and self abortions caused more complications and unintended results that could have been avoided in a hospital/clinic setting. (c) Those organizations also preform need health services for low income women and with out that health issues and pregnancies would increase.

Budget, Spending, & Tax

Budget Stabilization:

Indicate which proposals you support (if any) for balancing Indiana's budget.

- No

2. Instituting mandatory furloughs AND/OR layoffs for state employees?
- No

3. Reducing benefits for Medicaid recipients?
- No

4. An income tax increase on any tax bracket?
- No Answer

5. Other or expanded principles
- Balanced budgeet should not be on the backs of hard working middle class. I did not not answer (d) as there are additional areas of possible revenue, such as closing tax loopholes that should be addressed as well.

- (a) Due to improvement in evidence procedures and new evidence some of those sentenced have been proven innocent. (b) There needs to be more data to make an informed decision. (c) This is a tough one as violent crime needs to be defined in more detail. (d) If an arrest is made and it is found that person has an outstanding federal warrant then that person should be held for and then turned over to federal authorities. State and local law enforcement should not do federal law enforcement job. (e) Hate/bias crimes must be addressed.

- Yes

2. Do you support lowering state taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?

Economic growth is important, but it depends on what tax area being lowered and how that would effect people. (c) I would if it does not put an undue strain on other sectors. (d) I would support more retraining those capable of working. (e) I would support it if testing positive they are placed into a rehab program. (f) I would support moving toward livable wages.

4. Do you support legislation that grants citizens the right to choose to die through euthanasia?
- Yes

5. Do you support eliminating religious exemptions for vaccinations?
- No

6. Other or expanded principles
- (a) Drug abuse is raising. In order to reduce it there needs to be options available for treatment. There are other options than just building more facilities, (b) Medicaid application process needs to be streamlined as I have seen many people that truly need these benefits take too long to be approved. (e) This a decision each person must make. There are means to intervene should a minor's life be in jeopardy.

Legislative Priorities

In the following area, please explain in a total of 100 words or less, your top two or three priorities if elected. If they require additional funding for implementation, please explain how you would obtain this funding.
- 1. Education must be addressed. Students are over tested and that data is not available in a timely manor to use as intervention. Charter and virtual schools are not working. Vouchers are a way to finance a second school system that the state should not be doing. 2. A completive business climate that BOTH business and its workers can survive and thrive, 3. Infrastructure including internet services in rural areas to bring Hoosiers to a level playing field to compete,
