Val L. Peterson is a Republican member of the Utah House of Representatives, representing District 59. He was first elected to the chamber in 2010.

Peterson received a B.A. in communications and public relations, an M.A. in mass communications, and a Ph.D. in educational leadership from Brigham Young University, and an M.S. in strategic studies from the U.S. Army War College.

Before his election, Peterson was Vice President of Administration and Legislative Affairs at Utah Valley University. He is a colonel in the Utah National Guard, where he has served for 26 years. Peterson has been a state and county delegate in the Republican Party, and was finance chair for the Utah County Republican Party in 2009.

I love softball, golf, fishing, going to my children's soccer and baseball games. I am an Assistant Scout Master and enjoy all it entales. I like water skiing, snow skiing, and I love family BBQs.
