Personal Details

Beth Fukumoto is a Democratic member of the Hawaii House of Representatives, representing District 36. She was first elected to the chamber in 2012. Fukumoto served as the Republican House Minority Leader from 2015 to 2017 and as State House Minority Floor Leader from 2012 to 2014.

Fukumoto is a 2018 Democratic candidate seeking election to the U.S. House to represent the 1st Congressional District of Hawaii.

Fukumoto announced on March 22, 2017, her intention to leave the Republican Party and to become a Democrat.

1) Affordable Housing - I would utilize existing grant programs and work with federal departments to ensure the criteria for these programs fits Hawaii's housing needs.
2) Infrastructure - I would utilizing existing grant programs and seek additional funding for critical infrastructure - grid modernization, sewers, roads and other forms of transportation. I would support a higher tax on the most wealthy in our country.
3) Protecting our environment, reestablishing our climate agreements and reducing carbon emissions.
