Baseball Season Could Be On The Verge Of Cancellation -Report
August 1, 2020It is looking increasingly likely that the 2020 Major League Baseball season could be on the verge of being canceled less than two weeks after the delayed season opener.
Things are looking mighty grim after multiple members of the Miami Marlins tested positive for the coronavirus leading to the team postponing a week's worth of games and sending a ripple effect through the league.

Now according to reports, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred has spoken with players union chief Tony Clark and floated the possibility that the plug could be pulled if the positive test results continue.
Manfred's admission that the season is likely doomed came on the day that the Milwaukee Brewers had to call off their home opener after two members of the opposing team, the St. Louis Cardinals tested positive on Friday morning.

Major League Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred told MLB Players Association executive director Tony Clark on Friday that if the sport doesn't do a better job of managing the coronavirus, it could shut down for the season, sources familiar with the conversation told ESPN.
The league and players recognize the coming days are a critical juncture following an outbreak among the Miami Marlins in which 21 members of the organization tested positive for COVID-19. Two positive tests by St. Louis Cardinals players Friday exacerbated concerns inside the sport about the presence of the coronavirus and whether the jointly agreed-upon protocols are being followed properly to prevent outbreaks similar to Miami's.
Should another outbreak materialize, Manfred, who has the power to shut down the season, could move in that direction. Multiple players briefed on the call fear the season could be shut down as soon as Monday if positive tests jump or if players continue not to strictly abide by the league's protocols.
Networks broadcasting MLB games have been alerted to look at possible alternate programming after this weekend should the league shut down, sources told ESPN's Keith Olbermann.

On Saturday, several more members of the Cardinals tested positive which will send a state of hysteria spreading through the league faster than COVID-19.
It may be that millions of fans may even not miss MLB if Manfred caves to pressure and calls off the season; not after the league's promotion of the divisive and hateful message of Black Lives Matter.

Mandred's management of the season has already been an abject disaster with the entire league going all-in on BLM which may have worked for some initially but now that the NBA is back with 100 percent advocacy for the Marxist-inspired movement the true believers will flock to watch LeBron while MLB has succeeded in alienating its audience.
There is also the National Hockey League which opened the postseason on Saturday and where the players aren't taking a knee or virtue signaling making the NHL a refuge for beleaguered sports fans who don't want radical leftist politics crammed down their throats by entitled millionaires.
The cancellation of the MLB season could have far-reaching implications for a sport that many find to be slow and boring while the NHL could have a major opening to fill the void.
When Dr. Fauci was tabbed to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at the season opener Manfred may as well have given the league the kiss of death by betting the farm on poisonous politics.
