According to Delaware Online, the former vice president is down to 6 names.
All of the candidates are women and four of them are African-American.
1. Florida Democratic Rep. Val Demings
2. Massachusetts Democratic Senator Liz Warren
3. Former Obama national security adviser Susan Rice
4. Atlanta Democratic Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms
5. California Democratic Sen. Kamala Harris
6. New Mexico Democratic Governor Michelle Grisham
Noticeably missing from this particular list: Michigan Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and failed Georgia candidate Stacy Abrams.
After vowing to nominate a black woman to the Supreme Court, Biden said during a Democratic debate earlier this year: “Secondly, if I’m elected president, my Cabinet, my administration will look like the country, and I commit that I will, in fact, appoint a woman to be vice president. There are a number of women qualified to be president tomorrow. I would pick a woman to be my vice president.”
It does seem like Biden has already tipped his hand a little based on recent comments.
Biden previously said during an online campaign event that he’s coming for Harris, the far-left senator from California.
Biden said: “I’m so lucky to have you be a part of this partnership going forward. Working together, we can make a great deal of progress. ... I’m coming for you, kid.”
The 77-year-old thanked Harris for her support in the race during the virtual town hall back in April.
Biden added that his team would be looking for potential candidates for the VP role and is “looking for someone who will be a partner in this progress.”
Biden also said that coronavirus had "magnified some of our worst systemic inequities," and that black and Hispanic communities are suffering higher infection and death rates than white communities.
"That's unconscionable," he said. "We need more data on how Latinos and other communities of color are impacted, so we know exactly what has to be done." Biden said that infection rates in black communities were "three times" that of white communities, with death rates "nearly six times higher."
“It’s sick, it’s troubling, it’s wrong -- and we’re going to fight back with everything we’ve got," Biden promised.
Things have gotten so weird that Biden previously said he'd select former First Lady Michelle Obama to be his running mate, though he admitted he doubts she wants to jump back into politics anytime soon.
“I’d take her in a heartbeat,” Biden said when asked if he would add Obama to the ticket. “She’s brilliant. She knows the way around. She is a really fine woman. The Obamas are great friends.”
However, he said he doubts she wants the job.
“I don’t think she has any desire to live near the White House again,” Biden said.
