Policy Positions

Michigan Congressional Election 2018 Political Courage Test

Abortion

1. Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
- Pro-life

2. Other or expanded principles
- No Answer

Budget

1. In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
- No

2. In order to balance the budget, do you support reducing defense spending?
- No

3. Other or expanded principles
- In order to balance the budget, spending must be cut as well as the regulations which hinder the growth of our economy. The Tax Cut and Jobs Act has been a great step forward to begin to accomplish this although additional work needs to be done.

Campaign Finance

1. Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
- No

2. Other or expanded principles
- The framers of the Constitution wisely ensured that amending the Constitution would not be an easy task. The legislation being proposed by a Senator from New Mexico would limit the first amendment of our free speech as all forms of communication ads, newspaper, mailings etc cost money to promote and send.

Economy

1. Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
- Yes

2. Do you support lowering corporate taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
- Yes

3. Other or expanded principles
- The government should prioritize spending away from wasteful projects and instead use the dollars to spur the economy with infrastructure, defense and the security of our homeland. Also, the death tax hinders those who want to leave their family owned business to their heirs and should be eliminated.

Education

1. Do you support requiring states to adopt federal education standards?
- No

2. Other or expanded principles
- The 10th amendment addresses the right of States to address their own needs in education and healthcare to name a few which the federal government has unfortunately been overreaching in recent years.

Energy & Environment

1. Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, thermal)?
- Yes

2. Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
- No

3. Other or expanded principles
- In order to end our dependency on foreign energy sources, we need to continue to invest in technology. With the widespread innovation, production and growth that is occurring in our state and nation, we have tremendous opportunities to boost fresh strategies that can be truly transformative, not just for our economy here in Michigan, but for the environment, we share and want to protect.

Guns

1. Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
- No

2. Other or expanded principles
- I believe in the 2nd amendment and the right for us all to bear arms.

Health Care

1. Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")?
- Yes

2. Other or expanded principles
- I support repealing the majority of the law, the tax, and compliance of the employer reporting, the metal tier structure and mandating of benefits. I do support keeping the regulation of insurance to mandate coverage for all individuals even those with pre-existing conditions with control measures for transparency of medical costs.

Immigration

1. Do you support the construction of a wall along the Mexican border?
- Yes

2. Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
- Yes

3. Other or expanded principles
- We are a nation of laws. Those who have broken the law should be removed from our country and not provided special privileges or a path ahead of those individuals who lawfully applied for a visa and/or citizenship.

Marijuana

1. Do you support the legalization of marijuana for recreational purposes?
- Unknown Position

2. Other or expanded principles
- I do support State Rights for the legalization of marijuana like alcohol or tobacco for example. I do not think the Federal government should be able to prosecute marijuana as a criminal offense when a state has legalized it. The right to use marijuana as medicine or recreationally should be decided by the state government. Marijuana should be removed from the Schedule 1 list so states who have passed the legalization of the substance can effectively govern the business in their state out of the shadows of criminal prosecution from the federal government.

National Security

1. Should the United States use military force in order to prevent governments hostile to the U.S. from possessing a nuclear weapon?
- Yes

2. Do you support increased American intervention in Middle Eastern conflicts beyond air support?
- Yes

3. Other or expanded principles
- In the event our troops need additional support above and beyond the air support our country has currently authorized, our men and women in uniform should receive the support and tools necessary to perform their job of protecting our freedom and national security.

Administrative Priorities

Please explain in a total of 100 words or less, your top two or three priorities if elected. If they require additional funding for implementation, please explain how you would obtain this funding.
- America is built on the idea of freedom to govern ourselves with fundamental liberties through self-government. I am running to ensure these principals are upheld in the House of Representatives. I will fight for infrastructure dollars, skilled trade education, lower taxes with tax reform, a smaller more responsive government by reforming and repealing the compliance and tax of Obamacare, a strong defense, and secure homeland, as well as a country that values hard work and responsible behavior.
