CNN Reporter Living In Brooklyn Reports Scores More Errors With NY Mail-in Ballots, Including His
September 29, 2020Another day closer to the general elections in November, another incident of mail-in balloting problems – this one with a twist.
As the independent media and some right-leaning outlets have regularly reported on incidents involving mail-in balloting problems throughout the primary season, the so-called ‘mainstream media’ has pushed back, haughtily dismissing such reports as fiction while claiming that ‘widespread’ issues with mail-in ballots are not a thing.

Then, suddenly, a correspondent for one of those outlets – CNN – appears to have become caught up in the mail-in balloting story on a very personal level.
The Daily Caller reports:
New York City residents have reported receiving ballots with wrong information, sparking confusion and a response from the city board of elections department.
Multiple voters who live in Brooklyn have reported errors — including a wrong name on their ballot envelope — which would invalidate their ballots, according to Gothamist. The error was due to an “outside vendor error,” the New York City Board of Elections said Monday in a tweet instructing residents on what steps to take if they encounter the error.
“I just got my New York mail-in ballot today and the security envelope I’m supposed to put it in and sign has some other guy’s name and address on it,” Nathan McDermott, a CNN reporter and Brooklyn resident, wrote on Twitter Monday.
Because, you know, mail-in balloting problems don’t exist until they happen to a ‘mainstream media’ reporter.
“I’m a political journalist, so I pay a bit more attention to this than the average voter needs to, but the wrong address isn’t readily noticeable, so I imagine most voters won’t even register it," McDermott added.
A number of others responded to a board of elections tweet sent out earlier, noting that they, too, had experienced the very same issue McDermott noted online.
“Also received an envelope with someone else’s name. I spoke to someone at the Brooklyn office who genuinely sounded shocked and panicked when I told her the issue. I was rushed off the phone," wrote John DePasquale, a New York City middle school teacher, on Twitter.
So, here's what makes this such a big deal, according to the Gothamist: If a voter signs the mistaken envelope, then his or her ballot is going to be invalidated, per New York City law. And thus far, voters living in at least nine separate neighborhoods in Brooklyn have reported the mistake.
"The board of elections doesn’t know the extent of the issue, the department’s executive director Michael Ryan said in a statement to the Daily Caller News Foundation. About 500,000 ballots have already been sent out to New York City voters, according to Gothamist," The DC reported.
Adds Ryan: “We will ensure on behalf of the voters in Brooklyn that the proper ballots and ballot envelopes are in the hands of the voters in advance of Election Day so they can vote."
Do you know what fixes all of these problems overnight? That’s right – requiring Americans to vote in person after producing a valid ID, with the notable exception of allowing shut-ins to vote absentee ballot (which are verified).
And coronavirus, schmirus: If we can ‘safely’ mask up and go to a Walmart store, people can ‘safely mask up’ and vote in person.
