Policy Positions

Minnesota Congressional Election 2018 Political Courage Test

Abortion

1. Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
- Pro-life

2. Other or expanded principles
- I believe life begins at conception and ends at natural death. I will be a consistent champion for Life.

Budget

1. In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
- No

2. In order to balance the budget, do you support reducing defense spending?
- No

3. Other or expanded principles
- The greatest threat to the US is our growing National Debt. 70% of federal annual spending is on non-discretionary, "auto-pilot", social welfare benefit programs. Defense spending accounts for just 17% of the ~ $4 Trillion in total annual federal spending. We should first look to cutting smartly in the other 14 U.S. departments, 220+ agencies, bureaus, commissions, etc., as well as making substantive reforms in these social welfare benefit programs before we cut Defense carelessly. We must balance our Budget and pay off our National Debt.

Campaign Finance

1. Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
- Yes

2. Other or expanded principles
- The direction campaign finance regulations have been going the past 25 years limits freedom and favors incumbents. I support campaign finance reform that removes limitations on political contributions. If a wealthy activist wants to personally contribute $100,000 directly to a congressional challenger to a 28-year incumbent, she should be able to do that.

Economy

1. Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
- No

2. Do you support lowering corporate taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
- Yes

3. Other or expanded principles
- The key to expanding prosperity for all Americans is to shrink the size and scope of the federal government, including dramatic reductions in federal spending, and corresponding reductions in taxation and regulation. This will promote economic growth for the American economy. I support abolishing the federal corporate income tax altogether.

Education

1. Do you support requiring states to adopt federal education standards?
- No

2. Other or expanded principles
- Our U.S. Constitution grants no jurisdiction to our federal government in the area of education. Because of this, the U.S. Department of Education should be abolished. Education should be left exclusively to the states and the people.

Energy & Environment

1. Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, thermal)?
- No

2. Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
- No

3. Other or expanded principles
- I support all forms of energy, and believe they should succeed or fail in the free market. The federal government should have no role in funding these. Regulation of greenhouse gas emissions should be left to the states.

Guns

1. Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
- No

2. Other or expanded principles
- The Second Amendment is unambiguous, and I fully support our right to keep and bear arms. I will endeavor to repeal existing regulations that violate the Second Amendment, reform outdated regulations, and vote for current initiatives that strengthen our 2A rights.

Health Care

1. Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")?
- Yes

2. Other or expanded principles
- Obamacare has been a public policy disaster from the beginning. We should repeal it completely immediately, and allow the states and private sector to work out a solution.

Immigration

1. Do you support the construction of a wall along the Mexican border?
- Yes

2. Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
- Yes

3. Other or expanded principles
- Build the wall! It will not solve all our immigration problems, nor does President Trump or I or other Republicans claim it will. The wall is part of President Trump's 70-point comprehensive immigration reform plan, which I fully support. Only after all the President's reforms are implemented would I support exploring a path to legal status for illegals/Dreamers. But even then it would be permanent green card status, not citizenship.

Marijuana

1. Do you support the legalization of marijuana for recreational purposes?
- No

2. Other or expanded principles
- No Answer

National Security

1. Should the United States use military force in order to prevent governments hostile to the U.S. from possessing a nuclear weapon?
- Yes

2. Do you support increased American intervention in Middle Eastern conflicts beyond air support?
- No

3. Other or expanded principles
- We should use all the tools of National Power to prevent hostile governments from acquiring nuclear weapons.

Administrative Priorities

Please explain in a total of 100 words or less, your top two or three priorities if elected. If they require additional funding for implementation, please explain how you would obtain this funding.
- I want to partner with President Trump to accomplish his America First agenda as quickly and completely as possible in the limited time we have him as our President! I want to be a conservative reinforcement in the U.S. House of Representatives, and save our great republic from decades of bad policy and leadership. The greatest threat to the American Dream is our growing National Debt! We need to reverse course by downsizing/rightsizing our federal government. If we cut spending, reduce taxes and regulation, we can balance our Budget and pay off our National Debt.
