GOP Has Offered Dems 4 COVID Packages, But They've Rejected Every One of Them
August 5, 2020Democrats have been claiming that they’re waiting on Republicans to offer up a new coronavirus relief package because ‘Americans need it’ and ‘the country will cave if we don’t get one.’
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (R-Calif.), in recent stammering interviews, has said that majority Democrats in her chamber passed a relief bill weeks ago, so what are the Republicans waiting on?
True, Democrats did pass a massively expensive bill earlier this summer – one filled with trillions in giveaways to their cronies that would also usher in a bevy of new Left-wing policies that would fundamentally transform our country away from its founding.

At the same time, the mainstream media echoing Democratic talking points claiming that the GOP-controlled Senate and the White House care so little for Americans that they are refusing to even offer counter-proposals.
And as usual, that is a blatant lie.
In fact, Senate Republicans, with Trump administration input, have put forth four separate coronavirus relief bills but Nancy Pelosi and her Democrats have rejected each one of them.
The Daily Caller reports:
White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, during an appearance in the White House briefing room last week, slammed Democrats after a week of failed negotiations with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. ...
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell unveiled a $1 trillion coronavirus stimulus package July 27 after negotiations with other Senate Republicans. The Republican plan, dubbed the HEALS Act, was introduced as a counter-offer to the $3 trillion HEROES Act introduced by Democrats in May.
McConnell said the stimulus package consisted of several bills introduced by Senate Republicans in a statement July 27. Four bills in particular make up the bulk of the stimulus package and address liability protection, unemployment benefits, the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and school reopening.
"At the president’s direction, we have made no less than four different offers to Democrats on Capitol Hill,” Meadows told reporters. “Those four different offers have been actually rejected — but more importantly than that, they’ve not even been countered.”

"[W]e have one foot in the pandemic and one foot in the recovery. The American people need more help. They need it to be comprehensive. And they need it to be carefully tailored to this crossroads," McConnell said late last month.
"Just like in March, with the CARES Act, Senate Republicans have authored another bold framework to help our nation. So now, we need our Democratic colleagues to reprise their part as well. They need to put aside the partisan stonewalling we saw on police reform, rediscover the spirit of urgency that got the CARES Act across the finish line, and quickly join us around the negotiating table. It will take bipartisan cooperation to make the HEALS Act into law for the American people," he added.
As usual, however, Democrats are exploiting our pain for their own personal political gain. One portion of their plan would continue providing $600 per week to unemployed Americans, giving them more money than they were earning before losing their jobs to the pandemic and thereby killing any incentive to return to work.
Whenever Americans are down, we can always count on Democrats to come along and kick us.
