President Donald Trump has faced calls for his removal from office since the very start (and before he’d even won the White House!). But the movement for his actual impeachment has really gained steam this year with the conclusion of Robert Mueller’s probe into Russia meddling in the 2016 presidential election. So far, more than half of House Democrats have either called for an impeachment investigation or said outright that they would vote to remove the president from office. Here’s how close Trump really is to facing impeachment proceedings:
The latest: Mueller catalyzes proclamations
The three biggest spikes in impeachment support came after the release of the special counsel’s report in mid-April, his first public remarks in late May and his congressional testimony in late July.
Democrats in Republican-leaning districts are cautious
The vast majority of representatives from districts that voted for Trump in 2016 have not yet publicly supported impeachment.
