Tennessee Democratic Rep. Steve Cohen filed a resolution on Tuesday calling for the impeachment of Barr.
Ohio Republican Rep. Jim Jordan slammed these efforts and said it's clear Democrats are scared about what U.S. special prosecutor John Durham -- who was appointed by Barr -- will find in his investigation into the origins of the Trump-Russia investigation.
"It’s ridiculous," Jordan said. "The thing that scares him about Bill Barr is the investigation he has tasked John Durham to complete ... They are afraid of what that might show, mainly the spying that took place, and that is what’s set these folks off."
Barr had previously accused Democrats of spying on four individuals tied to President Trump's 2016 campaign.
"Barr used the word spying, and the Democrats went crazy," Jordan said. "He used that word because that's exactly what they did. They spied on four American citizens associating with the presidential campaign, probably hasn't ever been done in American history. And for one of those American citizens, they used the now-famous dossier that was paid for by the Clinton campaign, which they didn't tell the court to get the warrant to spy on him, that was written by a guy, Christopher Steele, who had told the FBI, told the Justice Department he was desperate to stop Trump from getting elected."
"And yet, they use that as the basis to go spy on a fellow American citizen, and now, they have the audacity to criticize Bill Barr, who's trying to clean all this up and get to the bottom of it," Jordan continued. "It's ridiculous. It’s completely ridiculous, and I think the American people understand it."
Barr recently said Durham has made progress in his investigation, but much of it has been delayed by the coronavirus pandemic.

House Resolution 1032, filed by Cohen, accuses Barr of using his job to pursue political goals.
“Today, I introduced #HRes1032, which would authorize an impeachment inquiry into Attorney General Barr,” Cohen wrote on Twitter. “He has politicized the DOJ, undermined the rule of law, abused his power, obstructed justice & violated the first amendment. He is not fit to be Attorney General.”
"This measure calls upon @HouseJudiciary to open an inquiry into AG Barr under the same House rules applied during the #ImpeachmentInquiry into President Trump last year. Congress is a co-equal branch of government and must hold #BillBarr accountable," he added in a second tweet.
Last week, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi downplayed the idea of impeaching Barr.
During a virtual event hosted by the Washington Post, Pelosi rejected the possibility that House Democrats would impeach Barr after some Democrats alleged he took political considerations in handling cases related to President Donald Trump.
“A hundred and thirty-one days from now, we will have the solution to many problems, one of them being Barr,” Pelosi said, adding that she thinks Barr is a “disgrace to the Department of Justice.”
“At this point, let’s solve our problems by going to the polls and voting on Election Day, 131 days from now,” Pelosi said.
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler even suggested last week that the House might impeach Barr.
Pelosi may be downplaying it in public, but several of her top colleagues in the House are still pushing for Barr's removal and they likely won't stop.
