Joe Biden Uses Quote from Mao Zedong, China Founder Who Killed Millions
July 14, 2020Given his party’s rapid adoption of Marxism and Communism, this is fitting: Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden just used a quote from a 20th-century authoritarian mass murderer to make a point about…something.
During a ‘digital event’ with Valerie Jarrett, former President Obama’s senior adviser for both of his terms, Biden cited a quote that was made famous by the founder of modern China, Mao Zedong.

“We’ve got to get real economic relief into women’s hands now,” Biden said.
According to a pool reporter who was monitoring the digital fundraiser, the former VEEP then cited a Chinese proverb, “Women hold up half the sky.”
The Washington Examiner reports:
The phrase comes from a proclamation by Mao in the mid-20th century that helped grant certain rights to women in China. The phrase became commonplace in China at the time, often appearing on pieces of propaganda in factories or other industrial areas.
Biden's remarks came as he championed women entering the labor force, citing the high percentage of college valedictorians who are women.
(Don’t get us started on the ‘Biden championed women’ remark.)
“Unless you take advantage of half or more of your brain power, you are never going to be in the position where you’re going to be able to compete internationally,” he said. “Women. Women. Women.”
Yes, of course, Joe. ‘Women, women, women.’
But back to Mao.
After leading the country through its Communist revolution following World War II, our lovely dictator (who only cared about some women, by the way, in the same manner “Black Lives Matter” only care about some black lives) came to believe that his country wasn’t communist enough. He wanted more ideological purity, so he launched what became known as the Cultural Revolution.
It was basically a multi-decade bloodbath.
The Heritage Foundation’s Dr. Lee Edwards, a historian, notes:
Can you name the greatest mass murderer of the 20th century? No, it wasn’t Hitler or Stalin. It was Mao Zedong.
According to the authoritative “Black Book of Communism,” an estimated 65 million Chinese died as a result of Mao’s repeated, merciless attempts to create a new “socialist” China. Anyone who got in his way was done away with -- by execution, imprisonment or forced famine.
For Mao, the No. 1 enemy was the intellectual. The so-called Great Helmsman reveled in his blood-letting, boasting, “What’s so unusual about Emperor Shih Huang of the China Dynasty? He had buried alive 460 scholars only, but we have buried alive 46,000 scholars.” Mao was referring to a major “accomplishment” of the Great Cultural Revolution, which from 1966-1976 transformed China into a great House of Fear.
Under his “Great Leap Forward” initiative, Mao demonstrated his “contempt for human life” by ordering the collectivization of all Chinese agriculture.
“"A deadly combination of lies about grain production, disastrous farming methods (profitable tea plantations, for example, were turned into rice fields), and misdistribution of food produced the worse famine in human history," Edwards wrote.

Mao also rounded up perceived political opponents and either starved or worked them to death, when he wasn’t letting them rot in prison. Most of the country’s true intellectuals were included in this group.
Now we have the presumptive presidential nominee of an Americanized version of China’s communist party quoting the ‘Father’ of that massive dictatorship. Wonderful.
