July Murder Rate Explodes In Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s Chicago
August 2, 2020It's been a hot and violent summer in Democrat-controlled cities where local officials have turned the streets over the anarchists and criminals but it has been especially bloody in Chicago.
The dismal tenure of Mayor Lori Lightfoot has been a pox upon the Windy City with the police being left at the mercy of violent mobs, churches harassed for holding services in violation of the mayor's decrees and a shocking body count that is more fitting for a third-world hellhole than one of America's biggest cities.
July was a month that was particularly filled with carnage with the 105 murders that occurred marking a whopping 139 percent increase over the same period last year.

Via The Chicago Sun-Times, "Chicago sees 139% jump in murders, uptick in shootings in July 2020: police":
Murders more than doubled last month in Chicago compared to the same month last year, according to new data released by Chicago police.
Shootings also increased compared July 2019.
Still, police reported that overall crime in the city has decreased so far this year.
The 105 murders reported in July are a nearly 139% increase from the 44 reported in July 2019, according to police data released Saturday. The 406 shooting incidents last month were a 75% increase from the 232 reported in the same month-to-month comparison.
The Sun-Times reported 106 homicides across the city in July, bringing the total number of homicide cases this year to 430 as of Friday night.
Murders are up 51% from the same point last year, along with a 47% increase in shootings, police said.
Last month, 573 people were shot in the city — at least 58 of them juveniles, including a 9-year-old boy killed by gunfire Friday night as he played outside on the Near North Side, according to Sun-Times records.
The month’s youngest shooting victim was a 3-year-old girl who was struck July 22 while riding in her family’s car in South Shore.
A day before that, the city saw the largest mass shooting in recent memory when 15 people were shot outside a funeral home in Gresham on the South Side.
The month opened with a bloody Fourth of July weekend that saw 79 people shot across the city, 15 of them fatally.
The body count would have been even higher had the criminals who opened fire on mourners of a gun violence victim outside of a Chicago-area funeral home had better aim.

Lightfoot who became the city's 56th mayor in 2019 made a big show out of refusing an offer from President Trump to send federal agents to bolster local law enforcement in what is a war zone where residents are risking their lives every time that they step outside.

Despite her protests, Trump surged the feds into the city anyway as a part of Operation Legend while Lightfoot concentrated on tearing down statues of Christopher Columbus.
Her honor's ineptitude appears to have been interpreted as a green light for the city's street gangs to settle scores as Chicago increasingly resembles a war zone while its mayor has been preoccupied with picking fights with White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany and engaging in political warfare with President Trump.
Residents deserve better but elections have consequences and they keep voting for Democrats.
