State Representative Niraj Antani (R-Miamisburg) introduced legislation today to require education about the development of unborn children in health curriculum in schools.   House Bill 619 would require the school board to either adopt the state instructional program established by the Ohio Department of Health or craft instruction materials. These materials will describe the unborn child in two-week gestational intervals and include information on local prenatal health care.   “In order to promote an understanding of life, this bill will ensure students know the scientific facts in regard to the development of unborn children. In the womb, their hearts beat, they feel pain, and other human qualities as development progresses. Once students are educated on this, it will hopefully create a culture of life,” Rep Antani said.   HB 619 has the support of the Right to Life Action Coalition of Ohio.   "The Right to Life Action Coalition of Ohio is pleased to be working with Rep. Antani to ensure that our health curriculum will teach accurate scientific information regarding the development of the human being from conception,” stated Ed Sitter, President of the Right to Life Action Coalition of Ohio.

MIAMISBURG - State Representative Niraj Antani (R-Miamisburg) today announced Crystal Rooks as the 42nd House District winner of the 2018 Ohio House of Representatives Student Art Exhibition. Crystal attends Miamisburg High School, and is taught by Sara Green.   “As an alumnus of Miamisburg High School, I am proud to see a talented young artist from Miamisburg have their work displayed in this exhibition. I congratulate Crystal on her excellent contribution,” Rep Antani said.   This exhibition is open to the public at the Vern Riffe Center for Government and the Arts in the lower level Statehouse connector.   The Ohio House of Representatives joined the Ohio Arts Council and Ohio Art Education Association to create the 2018 Student Art Exhibition. This exhibition recognizes the talents of high school artists from all 99 House Districts in Ohio.

COLUMBUS - Today, Representative Niraj Antani (R-Miamisburg) introduced House Bill 485. This would designate January 30 as “Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy Awareness Day.”   “Chronic traumatic encephalopathy is a disease that can affect a wide range of Ohioans; athletes, military service members, and survivors of domestic violence. It is important that we bring awareness to this issue,” Rep Antani said.   This bill is named for Cody Hamblin, who passed in May 2016. It was found that CTE contributed to the seizure that resulted in the passing of Cody Hamblin, a star quarterback at Miamisburg High School.   “Establishing CTE Awareness Day on an annual basis will help preserve the memory of Cody and all others affected by CTE. We need people to know about CTE in order to minimize others from being affected by it like Cody was,” Heidi Hamblin, sister of Cody Hamblin, said.   The bill will soon be referred to a House committee for consideration.
