The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 12, 2014. Teresa Ellsworth ran as a Vermont Progressive Party candidate. Oliver Olsen ran as an independent candidate.Both candidates were to proceed to the general election in November, however, Ellsworth passed away on September 7, 2014. Olsen was unopposed in the general election.
